Description
"Are we of one blood, thou and I?"Odd musings based on a series of dreams I've been having. The quote, of course, is a corruption of one of Rudyard Kipling's, from the Jungle Book. I hadn't really intended to do this piece, it kind of demanded I sketch it out, though. There's a lot of errors, and I need to start sketching and working smaller again. This is about 14 x 16. >.<
Not sure if I'll get to colouring this anytime soon, I still have another small series called "The Boys of Summer" that I've wanted to do for a while now, TC pages, and commissions to do.

The first thing that popped into my head when reading the description was that one line from The Last Unicorn... "We are sisters, you and I." Not nearly as literary a reference as Kipling, but it still works. I absolutely love their tails and her glasses.

I didn't even THINK of that reference. Though, my favourite Beagle quote from the Last Unicorn will probably always be: "She will remember, when humans are fairytales in books written by rabbits" -- Probably just for the nostalgia value, the line fascinated me when I first read the story when I was much younger.
And, I know, I was a weird kid. The Jungle Book, for all I couldn't understand the political and colonial connotations of it all, was one of my absolute favourites when I was little! Other kids read Goosebumps and Babysitter's club.

*chortle* That's one of my favorite lines, too. You can tell, because I think I used it as a subject header for no less than THREE of my journal entries.
I adored the Jungle Book when I was a kid... I had three copies. ^.^;; I kept losing them and then finding them again. Unlike my three copies of LOTR... those I needed 'cause otherwise my sister and I would fight over who got to read them at any given point in time.

The subject of this piece is wonderful as well. It feels very much like you are communicating with an animal spirit. You as a cat in contact with a cat is very spiritual indeed....or dreamtastic, as you've said. Still, I love this piece very much. If I had any money, I'd offer to buy the line art off of you. THAT'S HOW MUCH I LOVE IT! Much love for you and your art, Dani! And for the fact that you look so gorgeous in that curvacious body. It's such an honest and natural form and I LOVE IT! We need to embrace our curves, not hate them! Nicely done, my dear.
