Description
Emilys New Cat, First PageAcrylic on paper, 5X10
Illustration I assignment was to do illustrations for a childrenβs book. A cover, then a two page spread. No text.
This is an extra page for the project. It shows Kate, Emilyβs sister, with her cat in the morning. Emily sees this and wishes she had a cat, too. Thus the start to the story.
This was done from a photograph of my niece, Katy, who posed for me last Thanksgiving morning. So it looks a whole lot better than the Last Page one where i made the figure up. For on thing, the detail in the folds of clothing and blankets is much better in this one.

This definitely resembles a children's book illustration - very nice!

Very nicely done! It does have that children's storybook quality to it, so I think you did an excellent job!

Nice. I can see this in a children's book easily.

I love the color in the cat. Is that watercolor? Anyway, this is working well as a series.

Thank you. It's a takeoff on her butterscotch like patterned cat. This is not what is traditionally called watercolor. It is acrylic used as watercolor.
