That's true, it's the only way to judge improvement.
I don't know if technically I can do better but I've since moved on from the sweet butterfly themes to darker territories.
By the way, the way you type, at first I found it odd, but I have to say it's much easier to read

Hehe, I have a problem with patience, too, but probably the opposite. If I could just get rid of some of it I might be able to finish things much more quickly. But then again, you know how there are things that are just so enjoyable to draw just as a process and you can do them in a kind of trance-like state for hours.

Wow, you really do seem very passionate about it. I've only ever dabbled with it a little bit (in my writing and some brief acquaintances with caligraphers/typographers) but I don't know much about it at all. It does seem fascinating, though. I once saw this Japanese artist perform a calligraphy demonstration with this huge broom-like brush on a carpet-sized canvas and it was like dancing - very meditative and graceful. It was an amazing experience.
