Well for one thing, he actually eats entire ships alive as well everything else in his path, and he furiously chases our heroes just for the simple fact that he hates to lose his lunch and will stop at nothing to get it, even if it gets him killed in the end. And just the mere mention of his name has everybody swimming away in terror
