Fantastic. Every detail and crevice is great.
Not trying to be mean here, but it looks kind of washed out. It might just be the lighting.

Sall good, that was intentional. Most of my colored work feels over-saturated, and cartoonier than I would like. This one was too, till I toned it down to try to make it feel a little more natural. I dunno if it was successful or not, but I'm pleased with how it came out. Thanks for the input!

Nice! I could easily imagine you redoing this in a few years just to see how your style changes, it'd be a great candidate because it's a really cool pose.

Yeah, I love seeing when artists redo older pieces, its a great way to see how you improve! And a reminder that every artist is a work in progress!

The visor of the current suit model doesn't come off like a helmet, instead it is dematerialized from it's active position or retracted into the neck/ shoulder area of the torso of the suit depending on the situation. The dematerialization of the suit is done symmetrically, more or less, as well.

No prob! Now to have a proper 2D Metroid. I heard Nintendo say Other M is like that, but I heard it really wasn't...

I got 3 mins into Other M, and had to turn it off, never turned it back on. I agree, we need a new quality 2D Metroid. It's clear theres a market for it, but I dont think its the numbers they would want for a game like that.

I mean, I dunno what this secret Retro project is, but if they made a Super Metroid style game, I'd be hooked! And I loved the Prime series too, but right now, we need another Metroidvaia, because I don't know when the last time one came out was...Shadow Complex? There had to be another.

DanielHooker In reply to UseTheBrakes [2013-01-23 00:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can't think of one since Shadow Complex... cept maybe Harmony of Dissonance, which was cool, but too small. I think theres a Lords of Shadow sequel thats supposed to be KINDA like one, but personally I prefer the sprite based ones. I feel like that genre is up to the indie market now.

Mirror of Fate? Yeah, I don't know if that's true Metroidvania style. Hell Yeah, Wrath of the Dead Rabbit was said to be one, but it strayed. However, I hear there's a luchador themed Metroidvania in the works called Guacamelee.

I forgot all about Guacamelee, I hope its good! I'm excited to see if the Ouya and its indie console market will increase the number of Metvanes we see.
