Description Digital, Corel Painter.

Needed to do something a bit more expressive, straight from my imagination, after having painted only portraits from references for way too long.

Great work! You have no idea how much inspiration I get when I see your work. Do you do anything to help your creativity flow? You seem to have a wild imagination!

Thanks!

I don't know. I mostly try to stay disciplined, thinking it's better to draw/paint something bad than nothing at all. Everything is training, wether it's a little pencilsketch or a full-blown painting. Creative thinking comes into my process when I try to find solutions to problems that are caused by my lack of technical skill. Say, if I can't draw a hand the way I like it, maybe I'll hide it or just chop it off. That results in a different painting alltogether. I always try not to be too rigid about sticking to an original vision/idea, because then I'll easily miss out on other possiblities within the painting. Then again, doing proper sketches and preparing is never a bad thing.

DanielKarlsson In reply to Ghost-Apple [2012-05-21 19:52:15 +0000 UTC]

Haha... Thank you! Well, I'll get back into it soon enough. No one pays me to do these, but people have been paying me for the portraits. But even though I do enjoy getting paid to do these portrait-exercises, I can only go so long with all this passion for the melancholy and weirdness building up before I have to find release. Now I have a few more portraits to do, and then I'll charge people more for it.

Atleast you are making some money for yourself. Maybe to buy more supplies for when your imagination runs loose? xD
Perhaps someday i'll have to commission you for one of you more "odd" works!

Haha... I actually bought myself a intuos 5 LARGE, but it's quite different from intuos 3 that I'm used to working with. Also, I use it on my imac for which I have a different version of Corel Painter. So, it's a bit slow getting started on it and for now it's just gathering dust.

Go on... Comission me.

I hope you can find more time to work with them. I'm not sure what they are, but they sound super interesting! xD

Could you drop me a note about average prices?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DanielKarlsson In reply to Ghost-Apple [2012-05-23 18:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I was talking about different models of the Intuos-drawingtablet by wacom. I use those with Corel Painter for my digital pieces.

Prices? Depends on what you would like. Digital pieces are cheaper and more practical, because all you get is a image-file e-mailed to you and then it's up to you to print it however and howmuch you want. Traditional pieces are alot more expensive, and add to that the shipping-fees.
Then it's a matter of the complexity of the composition and subject.

Ghost-Apple In reply to DanielKarlsson [2012-05-24 05:01:43 +0000 UTC]

Ahhhh, that makes more sense now!

Hmmmm, what is the smallest painting size you are willing to do? I don't want something huge, just a small little thing I can place in my room.

DanielKarlsson In reply to Ghost-Apple [2012-05-24 20:58:22 +0000 UTC]

Smallest paitning? Depends on the subject. Anything special in mind?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ghost-Apple In reply to DanielKarlsson [2012-05-25 13:20:23 +0000 UTC]

Well the size prefered would be a 8 by five inches.
And the subjet matter would be a squid, but with a theme of sewing.
(squids are my favorite animal, and sewing is basicly my life blood)

Squid sewing?
Hmmm.... Might be possible
