Description
Once again I haven`t had much time to post up any new artworks due to my Uni course. But I`ve finally managed to buy some time to post one, and here is my first image of Yuna from the Stitch! Anime. I`ve wanted to draw Yuna for ages, I`m happy to have finally drawn her and I`m pleased with how this first image has turned out.
Β
Now, I don`t want ANY horrible comments from Yuna haters! I respect we all have different thoughts towards her, but I won`t stand any disrespectful rants about her. Therefore if any of you hate Yuna then I recommend you don`t view this image. But if you do look at it, then PLEASE don`t post any horrible comments about her! I refuse to put up with those types of comments and they will most likely be deleted from the comments list.
I still love Lilo from the original movie and series franchise, and she will always be my top favourite Disney character. But I love Yuna just as much and I feel she deserves as much love and respect as Lilo has had.
Β
Anyway, those of you who like Yuna, I would like to hear your comments about my first image of her. I hope you like it.

FANTASTIC YUNA DRAWING! I'M SO IMPRESSED!! This is awesome! She looks exactly like in the show, expect for a slight difference with her eyes, which is not a problem at all. I love her eyes. I think her eyelashes are just different. Would you like me to post this on the Save L&S tumblr for you when I have time?? Β

Nice drawing here Daniel, Yuna looks great. I agree with some of the pointers that Haisai-DBarenzu gave, but still, for a first try, you did a really good job.

Thanks Chris, I`m glad you like it! I am pleased with this first attempt and when I make more Yuna images I`ll be sure to correct those pointers that Haisai-DBarenzu gave me.

Great work on this, Daniel!
As for how you drew her, it's almost just alike her! Few helpful hints though. First off, Yuna's slacks. You're not the only one that's made 'em like jean shorts, but in reality they're just athletic slacks. No jean part of 'em. Again, you're not the only one to make that so, so no worries there. Second would just be her ears, but that's merely because they're WAY small. If anything, the ears should be about as big, if not smaller, than the palm of her hand. Otherwise, everything's QUITE akin to her, the hairstyle, her iconic floral shirt, so forth!
A fancy job and hopefully you'll draw Yuna more in the future, maybe with other Stitch characters.

That's interesting I thought they were jeans.Β

Nope! Only the Zutto Yuna wears jeans, albeit rolled up to her knees. Originally, Yuna always had athletic slacks. The noticeable part of that is the stripes on 'em, those usually aren't on jeans in most Japanese animation. Henceforth, they're athletic slacks.

Oh I only notice that in a few shots where they show the sides of her pants when I look at the episodes now. Fascinating. Thanks!Β

Thanks! I`m glad you like it and thanks for pointing out those errors to me, I`ll make sure that I correct them in future. So far I`m happy with how this first image turned out and I will draw more of Yuna in future with some other characters, when I get some more time.

Thanks for commenting! I`m glad you liked it.
As for the new series, it`s a Japanese anime which originally was tended to be a reboot of the original series, featuring Stitch meeting a girl named Yuna instead of Lilo. The English dub however, changed the plot and made it appear as a direct sequel to the original series. Now I personally like the anime myself but most fans are hating it because of the English dub being made sequel and how it depicts Lilo and Stitch splitting up, although they did make an actual episode featuring Lilo re-uniting with Stitch in the 3rd season.Β
I could say an awful lot here, but if you want more information about it you can either type up "Stitch! Anime" into Google or you can look at this review about the two series by Chris-Dilke.

Hmm, yeah, I did kinda wonder if it was a sequel, because it started off with Stitch in space, but then when he meets the girl and they form a friendship, Stitch says at one point, "It's just like 'Ohana'!" So, if he knew what Ohana is, then he MUST have been in Earth before!
Though, I found it strange, because in that same episode, the girl talks about her belly button being "stolen" (religious thing, I think). Stitch asks about what a belly button is. . . . If THIS is supposed to be a SEQUEL to the original series in the American version, then doesn't Stitch ever remember looking at Nani's belly button since she showed it the whole time? Or Lilo's whenever she wore her hula outfit? There happens to be some strange continuity issues in this one.
I heard of that episode where Lilo re-unites with Stitch. How did that one go? What did they do?

I might check it out later.

Yeah the anime does contain a lot of plot holes and continuity errors, but I like it nonetheless. I just wish it was kept as a reboot as it was originally intended, that way there wouldn`t be so much controversy over Lilo and Stitch separating. Before the Lilo episode came out I found it strange that even the original Japanese version talked about Ohana when that was originally suppose to be a reboot, plus Jumba and Pleakley already knew each other and revealed they`d already been to Earth before.
Now about the Lilo episode, I don`t want to spoil it for you here so here`s the link to it. But watch it with caution and listen carefully to the dialogues as you might get confused as to who is actually Lilo. The ending might also make you sad.Β

Aww, that episode really was adorable. And yes, the ending was sad, but uplifting, too.

Voice acting is awkward, but really nostalgic either way.

Also, did Captain Gantu... shrink... when Dr. Jumba jumped on top of him?

danielnewton In reply to JIMENOPOLIX [2015-01-26 23:21:05 +0000 UTC]
Well I`m glad you enjoyed the episode. I wish they`d have kept Lilo on for a lot longer, but the only problem is that Lilo isn`t very popular in Japan (which was the reason they wanted to replace her with Yuna).
No Gantu doesn`t shrink, he just gets knocked out.
Anyway if you want to see the rest of the anime the episodes are all on YouTube, but just to let you know, Season 1 is quite slow paced and some episodes in the English dub are cut down to 10 minutes (serving as double back to back episodes).

JIMENOPOLIX In reply to danielnewton [2015-01-27 00:46:42 +0000 UTC]
Oh? Not very popular? Is it because the Japanese have no interest in her or is she bland to them?
--
No, I mean, Gantu has ALWAYS looked like a giant, especially compared to Jumba's size. But here, when Jumba jumps onto his back and shoulders, he appears about half of Gantu's size! Isn't he supposed to be about the size of his face?
--
Okay. I'll keep that in mind.

danielnewton In reply to JIMENOPOLIX [2015-01-27 23:11:13 +0000 UTC]
I`m not really sure why Japan don`t like Lilo as much, but that`s all I know so far.
Well I have noticed that Gantu`s size is distorted at times in both TV shows. In the original series he did appear noticeably shorter than in the original movie, where he appeared 20 feet tall. Therefore at that scene when Jumba jumps on him I`d say his size is seriously distorted. These flaws can be quite annoying at times but it doesn`t really bother me that much.Β
Anyway if you do watch the rest of the anime let me know what you thought of it.

That's quite a mystery. After all, isn't Hawaii consisted of many Asians?

Well I don`t know that much about Hawaii myself, but I have learned a fair bit about their traditions from watching Lilo & Stitch. Anyway I suppose Japan are more into tough characters like Yuna, who have very tough karate fighting abilities, which is probably why they don`t like Lilo very much, but again I`m not so sure.
