I don't think I've ever seen a lightsaber on one's back before, in any Star Wars movie. They've always been 'de-activated' and on the belt.

Completely right, not in Star Wars movies, but jark always have it activated on his back, I wonder why, but indeed jark has a lightsaber hanging back there. See for yourself:
