"The shadow of the old Interplanetary Mining Conglomerate still looms over Planet 2K-B Styuvich, even after all the civil wars on the planet long since faded away with the last of its natural resources.
Who'd have thought that a simple discovery of a new element would lead to a revolution in two symphonies?
The revolution of technology and the rise of a small civilization on Styuvich's moon.
The revolution against the Conglomerate when they reneged on their deal for resources.
To this day, those scars still slice through the soil, a painful reminder of the avarice of human conglomerates and the methods used to defend their profits."

The title is what caught my attention, really. Of course the drawing is beautiful, but I guess I like sad poetry more than anything. Anyways, again I really love the title. It can say so many things. Scars of Old Avarice, you can see Earth ruined as the astronaut is walking on another planet or moon. So I see it was two ways: Mental scars left by the pain cause of the greed or want that caused him to have his dream: Be the best, go to space. And then in space there is a catastrophe. And Earth is now gone from him. Everybody and everything. Or you can look at it on a larger scale and say the scars are what you see on the earth. Caused by the avarice of mankind. I think that's how the author intended it, but my other interpretation entertains me.
