I just tried Eclipse for the hell of it and fuck meΒ that was the most nauseating 10 seconds experience of my online life. Absolutely. Atrocious.
It's a real shame how the switch to Eclipse is going to alienate or chase off a lot of people. Visually impaired, people with health problems set off by flashy images / strong contrast, and hell, even young and inexperienced artists are going to get the rough end of the stick.
It fucking sucks.

Yeah! I think it was your comment saying how popular artists are being pushed instead of people with similar interests and less watchers? Thats so fucked! That completely doesn't give new, and good artists exposure! Its already hard enough to get noticed here w/o that whole mess...
But yeah.. Quite a few of my friends experience the same shit as I do when I go on eclipse and its so sad because like i said, you'd think staff would take people like us into consideration but i guess not...
I've loved the years i've spent on this site, and its such a shame to see the staff be this way

Yeah that was mine, I'm just super angry at that one particular aspect. I'm pretty defensive and strongly supportive of younger and beginning artists, as I needed a good bunch of support to get some self confidence, so knowing the majority of younger or inexperienced new artists will not get the same boost, or will be completely ignored, really angers me.
I'm really, really sorry to hear you and your friends have this kind of issue. I really wish you wouldn't have to go through physical pain to stay on the website. It's ridiculous.
I still love the website, and I love all the friends I've made and I refuseΒ to leave because of the staff's fuck ups. But I know a lot of people will leave, and that breaks my heart.
I honestly wish I could knock some sense into the devs, but they just care about money and making this website as much of a mobile Artstation lookalike.

Mood !! Newer, younger artists should be encouraged! And as an art site, i feel like dA should give those artists a chance rather than the ones that are already popular !
And thank you! I had a lot of trouble last night from some ppl who were like "oh well you dont belong on this site then" and shit like that just because of stuff like my visual impairments... it sucks to be treated like youre less than someone else for disabilities and such.
I really really wish I didnt have to leave once dA pushes eclipse fully but i know I may have to for my health and that sucks! I try to make a living from my art bc I cant get an irl job... and idk what i'll do w/o dA : pensive :

we dont know if it is, but what we do know is that it IS an issue and the most common reason for the contrast complaints on the eclipse layout. my friend has autism and this contrast sensitivity and cant read anything that is white on black background and vice versa. his brain cannot compute it, thus giving him migraine attacks.
this issue has been brought up for months now, yet dA chooses to still ignore it.

you're not alone, my eyes are fucked already and even with glasses the contrast of DA makes me feel sick, along with headaches. sadly if DA doesn't fix it then I, along with many others, would have to leave. something I wouldn't want to do :/

yup, i feel you 100% ! I can't stand the contrast. other sites do it well (twitter, discord) cause they're not trying to use almost pure black on almost pure white, its like.. a blue toned black and then like a light blue toned grey for text, or for light theme its often a off white with blue toned grey text. DA just feels like its gone straight for almost pure black, almost pure white, and then dont understand why its giving people issues. thats the one no-no of any design of anything, you just don't put certain colors together unless youre TRYING to cause issues lol.
many many many of us have been complaining, I think i've yelled on every one of these 'change logs' and sent multiple amounts of feedback but heard nothing.
the sad reality is that they only hear what *they* want to here and NOT what the userbase wants. which, at the end of the day, should be your primary concern.
"we've added the things you wanted!" except you didn't cause most of us want proper custom boxes back, a different site contrast.. i mean they removed the whole empty space feeling somewhat but not all of the other issues which is just, sad
i'm so upset with how this is turning out. ive been a member of dA since my 'kiddie' days of around 13, its sad to see a site crash and burn. i know once this becomes permanent i won't be able to be on da anymore, so i've been trying to find other platforms like twitter. but i know id lose many of the people i currently interact with and watch as they aren't doing the same, but i can't compromise my health. im not doing it in protest or that i dont like the new site i'm having to do it cause i literally *cant* be here :/

God yeah, Also with the current dA colors, my colorblind ass struggles to read a lot of the words honestly just because of the background theyre on. Its so fucked. I've complained so much and sent so many tickets and got no response either.. you'd think they'd take the concerns of one of their disabled users quite literally since their new site physically affects me
I've also been around dA since my kiddie days! Below 13 honestly ... lmao.. I know that theres a site called artr.ise coming up and it looks really good, its made by members of dA too who dont want eclipse! So it should come out absolutely amazing

It isn't as bad for me but it still gives me nausea and headaches.
DeviantArt is just digging it's own grave with this, I think they want to add it for professionals so it looks more professional but... honestly deviantart has and will always be a hobby site for me, there are other places for professionals such as art station. Deviantart is really not listening to its user and its depressing.

While I'm still in school for like, a few more months I can't find a job as well because of mental health and deviantart is actually a place that has allot of people willing to pay money, but they are pushing them away by forcing us to use eclipse.

Honestly, It all just bothers me, the whole eclipse including the colors. The way its set out, the way everything is. Its so different n shit and I hate it, not to mention the fucking overloads it gives me, its horrible!
And yeah, While i normally dont rly.. get commissioned (F) I'd like to think if i was more popular I would and I could actually make a job out of this, but with everyone leaving because of eclipse i dont think thats really possible

I also never get commissions but with all the people leaving, it's not really worth it imo. I could imagen that if i'd switch side I might also get commissions but, Twitter can be pretty good too but also really shit, tumblr's a mess and furraffinity, not really a furry. Yea getting followers on twitter is REALLY hard, not to mention people will easly unfollow you if you say something slightly wrong. (One of my friends said that they found a trans character poorly writen and people told her shes transphobic and she lost half of her following)

Ok so I checked the transphobia thing again and. I was wording myself a bit poor
So basiclly, the character Roxy from homestuck was suddenly anounced to be genderfluid/nb/trans, I am not even sure what or how. In the first half when they were a guardian, they were a mom with feminine clothing and all and in the second half of the comic, they still had a very feminine side. In the epiloge she was suddenly announce to be nonbinary (like i said) and it was like the "dumbledore is gay" thing. My friend said that they think it was a poor choice just to please tumblr and that she will still see them as a nonbinary female. Everyone then insulted her and started to say how "it doesnt matter how many trans friends you have you transphobe" and acted like its the end of the world
