Yeah! I'm also using the pre-eclipse version, I do really hope the staff will open their eyes and listen to us finally though

Well, individual users don't seem to have much say, but if there was a large group of users who stopped paying for dA membership (as I may do when my current membership expires), maybe they would listen.

I am soooooo happy for advanced message center! I feel so much more organized! Now please make my ID normal Pixel size, I hate it being all stretched out.

I think you need to create tutorial videos where to find certain content, because the switch from a table design anno 1997 to a clean minimum modern php based website is too hard. People get mad at the number of new impressions: new branding, new typography, new layout, new Userinterface, that's a mind blowing load of changes. ^^'

Start with an introducing video, and.... ADD CODING FOR COREMEMBERS FFS lol We want to express ourselves, even our DA site is art, try to understand that point!

Still hideous, though... Still haven't fixed the problems everybody has been asking for since this train wreck was initially announced.Β

Lots of great updates here, cheers for that! The only thing is I still don't get what actually changed with the Feedback update and am still quite bummed out about that whole thing.

@Let-Me-Drown Β
i devide your opinion. art meansΒ dissimilarity same and about ours profiles by which we sending ours ideas..Β I like the colors of the old deviant art (i mean those which we still to have now) and it functions too (even it has bugs and in groups too).Β

for some reason, unfortunately, developers always trying to create something new and develop it ... although could to be much better for all of us to fix the existing problems in the old version of the site. fix bugs in functions.. its not about design.

I understand that developers put alot of work in creation of this new version and keep to work to make it better.. i heard about it from developers by my own ears.. and it was hard to say to them that your newΒ designΒ is not enjoyable.. esspecially after they said to me that they work and at nights too..

Smaller fonts and smaller thumbs.
Muted layout aka no high contrast.

you dont know how many users you will lose after you force everyone to use it, including me.

A short-time deviant? .... I'm not wondering.

'Cause what I noticed in 85 % of all the fellow members who just complaining about eclipse and want to leave are the ones who're not longer than 2 years.

I've been here for more than a decade. There's a lot that needs fixing still with Eclipse and this will indeed be one of the most drastic and biggest changes to this website's look and layout.

Even admitted to by spyed here:

I'm here since 10 years.

Azurelly In reply to K-Zlovetch [2019-06-13 20:03:11 +0000 UTC]

I know you. You might be one of a bunch of people who actually take the time and effort to make such a complex review of the state of Eclipse and how it could be fixed/ajdusted and improved to make Eclipse still look appealing to the audience.

Dont' get me wrong. I heard that people who dislike Eclipse have many of good reasons why.
But what bothers me are the ones who just bluntly yelling because of ... well, superficial aspects which aren't really good reasons I'd say.

Also I heard it that dA still doesn't really take notice of so many great suggestions from us fellow members which is really sad as well.
But still out of my naivety I'll let it come once when Eclipse will be official and then I can still decide later if it is just bad or not.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

K-Zlovetch In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 20:05:43 +0000 UTC]

Time will tell... I'm just super sad because DA is my only good time on Internet. It's unique. I don't want it destroyed because of money or just bad choices -__-

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to K-Zlovetch [2019-06-13 20:10:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, admittedly dA is really a good and unique place ....Β
I couldn't compare with other sites. I don't even know what alternative would be to feel well in case that dA will be totally downgraded.

Now another completely different thing I had in mind.
dA is owned by Wix, right?
My question is if dA really wanted to have their page completely redesigned or was the idea/order from Wix to make this change. I'm just wondering.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

K-Zlovetch In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 20:16:32 +0000 UTC]

Nothing. For now, nothing.
That's why I'm really worried and angry.

Yus, DA is a Wix toy now... But designed by amateurs... because even if Wix is shit, some design of them are pretty good. Eclipse isn't good.

Not really, A lot of us have been here a long time as you can tell from your reply.
I myself have been here for 11 years and absolutely think eclipse is horrible

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to 66kuromi [2019-06-13 19:27:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, as I said, from all the people who're against Eclipse, 85% are fellow members who've been here just for one or two years.
The remaining 15% are members here for longer. And I do think out of their experience they might have a reason for their dislike.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

66kuromi In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 19:29:58 +0000 UTC]

Where are you pulling these percentages out of? It seems like You've only encountered most people who have been here for a short time. I can tell you now more than 15% of us have been on this site for longer.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to 66kuromi [2019-06-13 19:35:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, out of boredom I picked up about 250 deviants who were complaining about Eclipse, checked out how long they've been there and calculated roughly the percentages.
I know that these results are rather vague (and probably stupid) though by that massive amount of members here. But to my surprise, there are still a lot they're here for not that a long time.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

66kuromi In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 19:36:25 +0000 UTC]

You know theres... like... over 30k people here on deviantart so those stats really dont mean anything.

At least I wasted took the time to make analytics - even if they were pointless. Just to find out why

Wasn't the statement that dA have already over 10 Mio members?

66kuromi In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 19:42:50 +0000 UTC]

Well really, it was basically pointless for you to do it because even still, the information is p useless

Also have no idea all i know is ive seen ppl with over 30k watchers lol...

J-E-N-0-V-A In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 09:47:48 +0000 UTC]

I've been on deviantArt for about 10 years through a few different accounts, and I strongly believe Eclipse is not only unnecessary, but the one thing that will cause a massive portion of the community to ditch the website and move to twitter or other art websites.Β
Nothing that Eclipse offers makes core worth buying, and they're taking away every bit of customization that made deviantArt unique. To me, Eclipse is a steaming pile of trash, and unless they step back and start putting out updates and edits that the community actually wants, I'll keep thinking it's a pile of trash.

Oha In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 09:39:15 +0000 UTC]

I'm 14 years on DA and Eclipse is, by far, the only thing that might make me want to completely stop using it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

lapis-lazuri In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 09:05:16 +0000 UTC]

Check again. There's plenty of old users, including myself, who hate the "eclipse" nonsense being forced on us. Actually it is the majority of those that embrace it readily that are the new ones, and by "new" I don't mean up to 2 years, I mean less than a year. Mostly kids, I would imagine, who came across DA randomly, brush over it on their smartphones, not really caring much about what they see as long as it's shiny and wrapped up in a "modern" look, and not really caring for actual art as such. This is what DA is becoming with this, a faceless smartphone app, one of thousands, not the unique art community which it has always been and was always meant to be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to lapis-lazuri [2019-06-13 09:17:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes, and the majority, the young users, are the ones I slightly got tired of them just because they can't get used of this drastic change.

I heard it and admittedly, Eclipse lacks a lot of functionality and isn't user-friendly for the time being.
I'm not that happy, too but I'll give it a chance as it's still in progress and (hopefully) more will be fixed and adjusted.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

AnastasiaMorning In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 11:24:07 +0000 UTC]

Please keep in mind that people have been reporting basic usability issues since November and giving plenty of constructive feedback, yet those issues have not been addressed. I don't find it very surprising that people have lost the rest of their hopes towardsΒ  the new design and are not very enthusiastic about getting used to a downgrade.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to AnastasiaMorning [2019-06-13 19:50:50 +0000 UTC]

And this is totally okay. I find it amazing that there are who still take the time to make a really complex review with many changes, fixes and suggestions to make Eclipse better and more appealing to the audience.
What irks me are the people who just bluntly bash everything because of trivial aspects (don't tell me, I've heard more than enough that it looks like Art Station)

Sure, this is something what makes me wondering, too why dA just don't take notice so many great suggestions from the fellow members.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AnastasiaMorning In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-17 21:51:05 +0000 UTC]

Yep. I am amased how much thought, time and dedication wento to some incredibly complex and thoughtful reviews.

Well, they aren't making this up. It's far more similar than it's comfortable, and the result neither looks good nor is good for branding.

While I totally can understand people's hate tovards the layout, the hate staff members recieve is what makes me sad. I feel bad for them, especially since I strongly suspect they are simply not allowed by Wix to make any really significant change (that would explain why resizing thumbnails took so ridiculously long). So staff members are in a between the sword and the wall kind of situation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

lapis-lazuri In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 10:04:00 +0000 UTC]

No oneΒ can get used to this drastic change, nor wants to for that matter. Except for the smartphone kids.

The problem is also of principle here. This is being forced on us without us wanting it, and no matter that the majority of the community doesn't want it, a vast number of them voicing that on every single updateΒ by the staff, the staff ignores that completely and just goes on with their plans. It feels like we are being ignored and our opinion on the matter not respected for a dime anymore here. DA has never been like that before.

Edit: Oh yeah, and seems like I'm not the only one who saw your initial statement and is protesting. Just for the record, I am on DA for 10 years and hate "eclipse", and I know people who have been here for up to 16 years and did hate it. Some of them are gone already.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to lapis-lazuri [2019-06-13 20:07:14 +0000 UTC]

I heard that so many great suggestons will be ignored from dA. I find it isn't okay, too.

I guess the ones who've been here for long have plenty of good reasons why they dislike Eclipse so much.
Well, then I guess my statement was a bit blunt.

Call me naive, but I'll wait till Eclipse is official and then I can still decide later if it will be bad and leave or not.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lapis-lazuri In reply to Azurelly [2019-06-13 20:48:46 +0000 UTC]

That's a matter of choice. But it really sucks to be forced to leave. You spend 5-10 years of your life investing in this place, finding akin minds.... it's not just a site to me anymore. It's like my home on the internet. I know a lot of people feel like that. Then that home is taken away and substituted by this shit. That can never be right, no matter what.

What kind of problem is there with the usernames? O-o

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jkrolak In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-13 09:24:48 +0000 UTC]

I suspect just another of the chorus that wants to assume someone else's "tag / name" that they think is unused, under used, or was previously deactivated.

They don't realize that along with someone else's name comes all the baggage that either caused them to leave or wants to cash in on that names already established fame vs building their own reputation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drachenmagier In reply to jkrolak [2019-06-13 10:12:57 +0000 UTC]

For a moment I wondered if there was a bug with the names I have not heard of yet. Considering that bugs don't happen to everybody, that would be entirely possible.

But yep, I agree with you there: A username can't be reused and that's pretty much it. Granted, I know the frustration of wanting a specific username and realising it has been claimed already. -w- We all do. And we just carry on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jkrolak In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-13 10:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, most of us do.Β

But there is a definite high pitched whine from users, upset that they can't be (pick artist name / tag who's no longer active on DA) or cash in on someone else's fame. Doesn't help that a fair number of users go through names every 6 months, or just blow up account and create a new one seemingly at the drop of a hat.Β
