The first thing recommended to me in discover was the deviantart team account XDΒ Β Honestly I would prefer to see artists in my discover tab that generally get less than 250 faves, there are some really good ones out their that don't have 2,000+ faves and stopped uplaoding 10 years ago :/
Wish they would openly address all the issues people have with eclipse, let us know their plans and such.

That would actually be stellar, but let's be honest: the mod team doesn't care. They don't care about letting us know what they have in store for the future, and they don't care about neither our feedback nor criticism. They'll just keep on force feeding us this crap and call it a day.

Perhaps that is their plan, Sabotage other sites by letting them steal ideas from Eclipse. Meanwhile DA is secretly planning to roll out something that actually looks good and works.

I saw somewhere that they are planning some changes to eclipses design, and from what I've seen they have been implementing some changes from the feedback. Not really the big things people want, but it's a start. I'm just hoping eclipse will continue to get better, I've been having a little hope come back since they fixed notifications. Still not using eclipse exclusively yet though, old DA is still easier to navigate.

Agreed. While I've played with Eclipse, it doesn't do well with Edge nor Internet Explorer. It looks better on Firefox, although that's not really saying much.
But if I have any work / gallery management to be done, it's the existing DA format hands down.Β One wonders if the DA staff actually tries to use Eclipse as their galleries seem more static than actively managed.

Yeah, I don't use Eclipse for managing my gallery and uploading either, but I think with the uploading it's just because I'm used to regular DA's uploading page. The lack of organization in eclipse galleries bothers me a lot, I would love to have subfolders back on the left. I have a lot of folders (and folders in those folders) and the long drop down menu of those folders in current eclipse is very unwelcoming. I can't remember if I submitted that in a ticket yet, I probably will do it in case I haven't already. Really looking forward to the subfolder update, but depending on how it's done I may need to narrow down the folders I have.

And nah. Eclipse is already a sort of dysfunctional knockoff of Artstation, at least visually. I doubt they're winging it, there's way too many similarities between the two websites - or at least there were.

At least I can navigate Artstation. With all the dropdown menus and pop-up icons all over the place in eclipse I'm always clicking things I don't want to click.

For a site centered around sharing and showcasing art, DA seems to do everything in their power to make undiscovered artists feel ignored and isolated, and to discourage us from interacting. Glad to see they're not bucking that trend. /s

Well, gotta love their coherence on that.
The devs really seem to want to "weed out" (as horrible as the term sounds) the younger and inexperienced, while only giving their time and care to those who can make their site look professional by posting spectacular artwork (like professionals) or those willing to cough up money for core.
It's sad, and I've been here for over ten years and it's become worse and worse with each passing year and update.
By the way, I did a quick check on your art, you've got some great stuff!

as someone who'se been on this site 15 years,the apathy of DA's staff regarding what people actually want or what would actually help the community feel more like... well... a community, is a fairly consistent thing. If anything, it's gotten worse since the Wix buyout.

Oh, totally, pre-Wix era was a mess but at least it was a fun era with silly memes and relatively harmless jokes. Sure the devs didn't do much back then either, but since Wix bought it, it's just become worse.

I see that you are trying. I see that you are fixing some things that people want. It's possible that Eclipse won't be garbage if you continue to listen and work on it. What I fear now is that people will leave even if you launch a good product simply because your publicity sucks.
Surely you guys have a timeline, milestones, a workback schedule; I mean, what kind of insane business do you operate if you don't? This is project management 101. Why not share some of that so we know what is on the roadmap? No need to share NDA information - keep it simple like needs assessment, development of X variable, feedback mining phase, or breakout of sprints if that's how engineering operates. People have been asking you for the same things over and over via comments in every single change log - they would stop hounding you if they believed you were paying attention. You've spent so much time not listening to your users when it was most important, they aren't going to trust that you are listening now unless you show them how you're listening.
Please don't fuck this up - I want a community to still be here with me after this is deployed. Please throw us a bone.

Tell us what's coming up that will be changed and a timeline you think it may be changed by. That way we can know (for instance) if the color issues will actually be resolved and possibly by when.

I actually like what Eclipse is offering but the constant radio silence between Change Logs and just wondering if something is going to be addressed soon or AT ALL is frustrating. The High Contrast of colors is the NUMBER 1 thing I see people are asking them to fix, NUMBER 2 is the size of gallery and post thumbnails. (My status activity posts really DO NOT need to be the same size as my Journals, and taking up real estate. I have ask/suggested to give us the option to make thumbnails, small/med/large based on user's tastes)
They would effectively cut down HALF the complaints if they would just change the high contrast to neutral dark grays (for the black theme) and off white, light cool grays (for the white theme). It can't be that difficult to HTML the hex color code from 000000 to something like 1E1E1E :/
I don't know man, I just hope by the time they are confident with launching this for good, all the major stuff is fixed. Because god, I have already decided to leave the hellsite that is tumblr, I really do not want to leave DA, the only place where I don't have to see constant fandom wank.Β

Agreed. It's possible that they are going to make those changes, but how are we supposed to know? I'm sure people would be fine with them not changing it right away if they knew it would happen at all. They say to use the feedback tool - I've used it several times, and left in-depth, thoughtful, useful feedback (not just shouting I hate it) and it feels as though it disappears into the ether.

Same as you, I've too have left the same feedback and yea, yelling and cursing isn't going to change that this will be here for good. Totally agree if they had something like that screenshot, people would be less inclined to swarm the feedback or the change logs, wanting some gosh darn answers.Β

I like the feedback update. But I sent in feedback about changing the Watch submissions sizes, they're far too large and take too damn long to delete and it's optimized.
If we had it like 50% smaller it would make our lives so much easier and MAYBE have that as an option instead of like the way it is right now.

I sent in a few feedback tickets on it, but please, please, I'm begging you, make the Light and Dark themes less contrast and hard on the eyes, or at least have more than two options.

The Eclipse version of the site uses what is known as endless scrolling. You keep scrolling down and never reach the end of the page. Pagination sets a length limit to the page. You scroll down only so far then at the bottom of the page will be a set of buttons to go to the next page, back to the previous page. It is basic page to page navigation. I Hate Endless Scrolling. Twitter and Instagram still use this.Β

It's nice to see the new site getting more nearly usable. Probably it'd have gone down better if it had not been rolled out so early. Me, i'd be happier if i thought literature was more on the radar and if i wasn't worried that chat & forums are likely to get the axe altogether. Let's see support for multi-chapter deviations - comics, stories, triptych images, film rolls - with next/previous/first/last links & a contents & about. Let's see support for collaborations & shared deviations in multiple galleries. And organic bamboo socks. And pineapples. Things that build community, which is DA's bigest strength.
The watch tab in notifications doesn't have a switch to turn on Eclipse mode by the way.
