team it is very good, but if the person does not sign the tagging tag, then the system will not sort. But it is very good idea.
Yes , we can delete spam comments in ecplise but system (statistic for each picture) still to show themΒ in the total number of all comments under the drawings , plus if click on this statistic system showing avatar and nickname of spammers together with normal users even if i deleted their comments or marked as spam.. can you please fix it in ecplise ?

I was actually happy until I noticed muted tags are only on Eclipse. It seems i will enjoy(NOT) inflation on main page until Eclipse is forced upon me.
Absolutely great job DeviantArt

Why would they spend time on further developing old site if they want to drop it anyway?
This way they can put all resources into finishing Eclipse.

Koffifie In reply to Flying-Snake [2019-06-27 16:52:10 +0000 UTC]

well, yes, I definitely agree with you, at least when you look at it from developer point of view.
I just am still the old site user and look at it from this side, cuz Eclipseis unusable for me at the moment . Thus my comment in this form.
I guess I'm just kinda salty over this whole eclipse thing Thruth be told I'm gonna leave regrdless soon so it's not that big deal anyway

yeah, I understand.
I'm sticking to the old site as well, but looks like they will implement what I wanted in Eclipse so I'll stay.

Why make it only for eclipse?

No one uses it unless forced to.Β

Flying-Snake In reply to HeroineAdventures [2019-06-27 10:43:44 +0000 UTC]

Because there is no reason to develop old layout when they want to get rid of it.
Eclipse will be only option at some point.

And there are people who like Eclipse, they just don't feel the need to shout it in the comments.
(I wait untill subcategories will be implemented into Eclipse and probably will switch, untli then I keep to old DA)

Why insist on pushing something through that most users don't want? Eclipse gives me a headache (literally - not a figure of speech)

Paremuine In reply to ??? [2019-06-27 07:44:18 +0000 UTC]

Would it be possible to implement the possibility that the viewers could at least suggest a tag? Not in comments but with separate interface and if enough viewers have suggested certain tag then it will be applied automagically.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 2

Garnet-Frost In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 23:16:57 +0000 UTC]

Considering DA is notorious for having harassment groups, of which the staff does not bother to carefully analyze the situation and help the artist who is actually getting harassed, that would be a terrible idea. Plus, I heavily dislike the idea of random strangers on the internet telling me what "fetish" or insignificant concept they think my art is when I'm the one who drew picture and know what it is.

This happened to me before, I do not want it to happen to me again. Artists should have control on what their art is, not some in-group, or even viewers, who might disapprove.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paremuine In reply to Garnet-Frost [2019-06-28 20:09:23 +0000 UTC]

I neverΒ  heard of these groups before this thread. Besides, someone simply suggesting possible tag for your art is hardly a harassment. You would still control what the tags are, just others would have the power to give you friendly suggestions. That's all.

Even if there are people who disapprove you or your creation then why should you care? There are always going to be such people whether you hear from them or not. And most importantly, if you are going to present your art in public then, you should anticipate society, or some part of it, to react to your art.

drachenmagier In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 07:54:50 +0000 UTC]

The automatically is a bit of a danger, since it could mean that people start to flock together to systematically harass artists with the wrong tags or tags the artist never wanted to use/consider. I had some group of twats for a while who did that with the mature content filter for my deviations. It's not actually a lot of work for the artist: One can just click a button to dispute the automated decision, but it's annoying.

Uluri In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-27 10:16:10 +0000 UTC]

On other art sites that do tag filtering, suggesting tags is a thing. They also have features that make it so that 1, original artists tags cant be removed 2, you can turn off others tagging if you want and 3, tag abuse is a reportable offensive. Some art sites even have the opportunity to selectively prevent certain tags from being placed on your art.

Ive not had any troubles on those tagging artisites on tag a bus myself even. In a community where tags become important people self moderate.Β

LadySaltyBeard In reply to Uluri [2019-06-29 05:31:14 +0000 UTC]

If we can't filter specific mature works based on how their flagged (like block mature art flagged with 'sexual themes') I agree that this should be the way the new tag-reliant blocking works

Paremuine In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-27 08:12:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh, ok, you're right, I forgot about the trolls. OK, no automation but simple suggestions then.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drachenmagier In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 08:30:45 +0000 UTC]

I'd love that. ^^ I mean, I can just click a suggestion away if I don't agree with it, but it would help to find good tags for some art.

(it's kinda sad that we have to think of a system that can't be abused by some ragey asshole with control issues, isn't it...?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paremuine In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-27 08:33:18 +0000 UTC]

It's also sad that many artists can't be bothered to categorise or even tag their own work.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

drachenmagier In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 08:53:37 +0000 UTC]

You can't submit anything without choosing a category on dA, though you can always submit anything to scraps to avoid a more specific category. And if you don't want your works to show up in searches, it seems a sensible idea not to tag it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paremuine In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-27 11:06:44 +0000 UTC]

Maybe if you don't want it to be found you shouldn't really post it in the first place. Use imgur or something similar for that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drachenmagier In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 11:28:38 +0000 UTC]

Imgur has tags too. And I said "not found in searches". Not "not found". Big difference.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paremuine In reply to drachenmagier [2019-06-27 11:51:14 +0000 UTC]

Mind to explain the "big" difference?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drachenmagier In reply to Paremuine [2019-06-27 19:49:04 +0000 UTC]

Untagged art is still in the gallery and you can freely see, use, share and link it without problems. If it would not show up at all, none of this would work, right?

A few popular artists don't tag their works. Griffsnuff as example. Though I guess in their case it's mostly the fact that they don't have the time to tag their daily uploads. And in their community a tag is not needed: their name is all you need to find the gallery and their works.

I found a bug today. (Not sure where to report this? Where's that feedback form?)

When in Eclipse there is a feedback message saying 'This reply is no longer avaiable.

Switching back to the old version it is displayed properly as a reply to a comment on a submission ticket. (Visable for admins only.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

PolarisAstrum In reply to Felizias [2019-06-27 16:30:50 +0000 UTC]

I'm not too sure that's a bug because it's been around since Eclipse was first launched. There are plenty "group only" messages that display as "This reply is no longer available" like group notes. It's one of the main reasons I keep having to go back to DA green, managing groups only in Eclipse is impossible right now :/

Fantastic! I was a bit worried about my saved messages and I'm really happy I get to keep them~! <3

When I muted some yesterday it took quite some time before the mute actually worked. It's fine now and you have no idea how happy I am that I get to block some content now~! But it took a tad more than the mentioned 10 minutes to work. Β

I had encountered some of the other problems you fixed with that update. You guys are really working fast, pretty much burning through that list of fixes and patches! <3 This is going to be great. ^^

Still no word about:
- pagination as an option for those of us who don't want to ever see endless scrolling
- downsizing: titles of journals; titles of tabs [Gallery, Feature, etc] or at least making their size to adjust to user's screen size; thumbnails on the right side of a journal entry [now there are in groups of nine in the green DA while there's only one monster-sized in the Eclipse] - bigger =//= quality
- kicking out that riddiculous carousel things for folders in galleries and favorites - the folders should be on the left side, all of them visible all the time, and their should be customizable with covers as they are now in the green DA

Loberon In reply to ??? [2019-06-27 07:02:07 +0000 UTC]

Mhh muting tags is actually neat. One thing I'd really like to see, if possible, would be notifications when an artist I'm watching closes his account or when favourites I made get deleted from the site. (so I can annoy the artist into appreciating his own work, if him not liking it was the reason for deleting it^^)

Polar--Tang In reply to ??? [2019-06-27 07:00:33 +0000 UTC]

The tag blacklist feature is great and all, but much like the mature content filter, it's pretty much useless if people don't actually tag their work. Please make including a minimum of 2-3- tags upon uploading a requirement!

daleksupreme In reply to ??? [2019-06-27 06:55:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh I try... how I try to like eclipse....I like progress...Β But its a mess... and still slower and harder to use than the old site... friction friction friction... click click cliketty click to find simply what is under all notifications currently. Just a question Danlev... why on earth make something worse than it is now and less user friendly? That makes no sense.

I know I am going to make electric cars... but make them slower than petrol cars... harder to use.... and ugly! waaap waap waaaa.... FAIL!!!

Hey, radical thought... lets make electric cars sexy, easy to use, do everything a petrol car can do and faster! Kaboom!!!! Success!!!!Β

Which one is Eclipse?... well its slower, so ugly it hurts, and harder to use... Hmmm....

With the appalling colour scheme I don't have the time to sit on eclipse and find everything that has been split up and spread over umpteen screens and stupid tags and dropdowns. I can only stand looking at it for 30 second bursts then my eyes start aching.Β I have only experienced headaches from one other website previously... funnily enough they chose... you guessed it White and Black... IT DOES NOT WORK! They ended up changing it as people dropped like flies.Β I can happily spend hours on the old site but only seconds on the new one.

One easy fix to eclipse that should take seconds and will help everyone... change the colours. Then reproduce what is already here as far as functionality... then put in new features...Β That is progress.
