Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.
Get Deeper Insight Into Your deviantART Traffic
By enabling the feature on your profile, you can now use Google Analytics to get a better grasp on the deviantART experience that you’ve created for your audience!
- Understand what types of people are organically drawn to your work. Where do they live? How long are they on your page?
- See the impact of the marketing you do outside of deviantART. When you share your deviantART work and links in other networks and sites, you’ll be able to track the traffic back to your Journals, Gallery, Profile, and much more!
- Understand what your visitors are looking at when they’re on your Profile and even for how long! Sometimes visitor trends are unclear until you can see the bigger picture.
- Evaluate the difference in attention you get for some types of work versus others.
- See a direct correlation between your marketing activities to deviation submissions and spikes in traffic to your Journals, artwork, or Profile pages.
Learn More About Your Audience Knowing who is engaging with your Profile can help you make decisions about where to hang out, what Groups to join, and other things you might want to share with your audience.
Watch Realtime Activity Flow To Your Profile
Google's realtime reports allow you to sit back and watch activity happening on your content right this second.
View Traffic Stats For Your Content
Google Analytics allows you to dive into traffic stats for deviations, Journals, Galleries, Collections, and other areas of your Profile Page. See which deviations are the most popular today and find out where that traffic is coming from.
Track and Analyze Your Watches and Favourites
Our Google Analytics integration tracks when someone watches or adds your artwork to their favourites, allowing you to view charts and statistics of these events. How many favourites did Reddit traffic give you this week? How many new watchers did you gain last weekend after submitting your newest deviation? Did you gain more watchers this month or last month?
Favourites and Watches are available under Google Analytics' "Events" reports.
...And A Ton Of Other Reports
Here's just a sample of some of the stats you can see:
- Traffic charts, graphs, and statistics by date
- Traffic demographics (geographic locations, languages...)
- Visitor stats (new visitors, returning visitors, time spent on pages, number of pages viewed, bounce rates...)
- Top sites and social networks sending you traffic and, for some social networks, the individual posts that are linking to your content
- Search engine keywords people are using to find your Profile Page and content
Measure How Your Activity Impacts Your Audience Growth
Google Analytics can help you make decisions on how you manage your deviations. It can also allow you to see the impact of your on site activities.
- If you find that your audience is more active on certain days or times, you’ll be able to determine a schedule for posting new art or Journals.
- Perhaps you’ll find that the more you comment, the more you see your pageviews and watch list jump.
- If commenting, and critiquing others’ artwork for example, helps increase the level of activity on your Profile, perhaps you’ll decide to do this more frequently.

Well if you want it that bad no one stops your from actually buying a pm. What for one person may look like rather basic thing, someone other may find it as a luxury already. It's not that dA doesn't provide all options necessary for regular users to comfortably make use of this site. And of course in situation when they share accounts for regular and premium ones there must be a significant difference between both so people would have a reason to actually buy premium. Either that or just making everyone pay equally same, then all of the features will be available for everyone.

Honestly, google may not even know about this feature. You don't have to be anyhow associated with Google to use their products.

And are you?
All you need is to understand what google analytics are. It's a widget-like option. Like Twitter on dA. Maybe you should read about it on the web.
Google is NOT buying deviantART.

ArtisticAxis In reply to Anako-ART [2014-03-20 20:14:07 +0000 UTC]
Google doesn't necessarily have to "buy" deviantart. They can easily plug themselves like they've done with other websites, but besides. I was being cranky about Youtube again.
I'm not interested in giving the greatness that is Google what they're asking for just to use this traffic tracker.
People are too trusting with sending out this kind of information when the Provider in question is already giving your data/info to a third-party that you have no control over. Even if it's "harmless" (search optimization or advertisements) it's still less control on my end. I don't know what they're doing with it, not my cup of tea.
and yes I know everything is reachable on the internet and nothing is 100 percent private.
Why willingly volunteer yourself for more if you just don't need to?
If you're a talented artist, you shouldn't need an IP tracker to make the dosh.

Why would it happen? Just because dA uses one of their products doesn't in any way mean anything. over 60% of most popular websites in the internet uses GA and from what I know, just the few of them belongs to Google.

If anyone of you still thinks we are not already deeply watched, controlled and spied out by numerous intelligence services and lobbies through the Internet and other technologies then you didn't listen to what Snowden unveiled. In the case of Google Analytics you get your hands on a powerful tool that helps YOU to improve the marketing of your art and whatever service you might be offering. Big Brother knows either way.

Yes, that's absolutely right.
I think DA could have handled this better, but something like GA is part of the social price we have to pay to use information technology.
And personally speaking, GA worries me a lot less than the lengths that our so called democratic, free governments are prepared to go to covertly. Even European lady chancellors aren't safe....

I followed the directions but I get a tracking ID code that is not in the correct format. It ends with a number and not a letter. It is supposed to be in the format of UA-XXXXXXXX-Y and instead it is UA-XXXXXXXX-1. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? I picked the universal and not the classical as told. I deleted the account and tried it a second time and I got the same results.
