Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.

Get Deeper Insight Into Your deviantART Traffic

By enabling the feature on your profile, you can now use Google Analytics to get a better grasp on the deviantART experience that you’ve created for your audience!

  • Understand what types of people are organically drawn to your work. Where do they live? How long are they on your page?
  • See the impact of the marketing you do outside of deviantART. When you share your deviantART work and links in other networks and sites, you’ll be able to track the traffic back to your Journals, Gallery, Profile, and much more!
  • Understand what your visitors are looking at when they’re on your Profile and even for how long! Sometimes visitor trends are unclear until you can see the bigger picture.
  • Evaluate the difference in attention you get for some types of work versus others.
  • See a direct correlation between your marketing activities to deviation submissions and spikes in traffic to your Journals, artwork, or Profile pages.

Learn More About Your Audience Knowing who is engaging with your Profile can help you make decisions about where to hang out, what Groups to join, and other things you might want to share with your audience.

Watch Realtime Activity Flow To Your Profile

Google's realtime reports allow you to sit back and watch activity happening on your content right this second.

View Traffic Stats For Your Content

Google Analytics allows you to dive into traffic stats for deviations, Journals, Galleries, Collections, and other areas of your Profile Page. See which deviations are the most popular today and find out where that traffic is coming from.

Track and Analyze Your Watches and Favourites

Our Google Analytics integration tracks when someone watches or adds your artwork to their favourites, allowing you to view charts and statistics of these events. How many favourites did Reddit traffic give you this week? How many new watchers did you gain last weekend after submitting your newest deviation? Did you gain more watchers this month or last month?

Favourites and Watches are available under Google Analytics' "Events" reports.

...And A Ton Of Other Reports

Here's just a sample of some of the stats you can see:

  • Traffic charts, graphs, and statistics by date
  • Traffic demographics (geographic locations, languages...)
  • Visitor stats (new visitors, returning visitors, time spent on pages, number of pages viewed, bounce rates...)
  • Top sites and social networks sending you traffic and, for some social networks, the individual posts that are linking to your content
  • Search engine keywords people are using to find your Profile Page and content

Measure How Your Activity Impacts Your Audience Growth

Google Analytics can help you make decisions on how you manage your deviations. It can also allow you to see the impact of your on site activities.

  • If you find that your audience is more active on certain days or times, you’ll be able to determine a schedule for posting new art or Journals.

  • Perhaps you’ll find that the more you comment, the more you see your pageviews and watch list jump.
  • If commenting, and critiquing others’ artwork for example, helps increase the level of activity on your Profile, perhaps you’ll decide to do this more frequently.

Besides all the questions about analytics been free and just for PM, I think the main problem is that it's kind of useless if you can track only your profile page.
For what I've seen, you can't track your deviations' pages, just the profile page.
So, you don't know if a visitor looked at you gallery, or your favorites, etc.
And you can't tell if someone was browsing you entire gallery or just one deviation.
Analytics reports on deviations pages would much more useful than on profile page.

I live in Minnesota, and so far google analytics has shown me that people from France and the UK are the people who look at my stuff most often - who knew?!?? Now I know that I should be more internationally oriented.

Wow, this is simply amazing... shiny colours... pointless information ... maps with blue bits...

You know what? I have yet to find a single feature that would make me want to have a premium account. If I had this, I'd look at it once out of curiosity.

DA keeps on giving them special features and push the rest of us out of the way. I just have to ask, do premium accounts really make that much more money than the advertising revenue and sales of actual products?

I'm premium and I'm not longing for this.. I guess I might not even use it (no offence)
The old statistics is fine to me. This is a little too "stalker" I think...

But if you people want this so much, there is no need to use all your money... You can also get PM for points~
And there is a lot of things you can do here to get some from other users.. Like doing commissions

Anyways.. I hope the rumors going on, that Google will take over DA, will stay as just a rumor...

This kind of rumors are made by people who have absolutely no idea in this topic and just jump to the most lazy and most sensational conclusions they can think of without the smallest proof for their words. And stupid, blind crowds follow, because they have no brain enough to take a moment and think.

Alexander-Musset In reply to JCBrokenLight [2014-03-19 21:51:00 +0000 UTC]

Good point. I am not into fan art at all, but I know that lots and lots of DAers are and get great pleasure and lots of creativity out of it. But honestly I don't think we are anywhere near that.

Something like that would only happen if Google bought DA, and even though DA is big it is nowhere near as big as something like YouTube. I would rest peacefully at night on that.

Besides which if DA banned fan art there would be a revolution or people would just leave to go somewhere they could. Not that any one of us would want to do that. DA is very special there is nothing like it on the internet.

Do any of you realise that dA is a job with salary? Some people buy their food and pay their bills by doing this job. You can't expect everything to be free here.

That's just how the World rolls. You just can't go to a store and scream at the cashier how you can't get the nice candybar because it actually costs something. It's not "unfair" HELLO, it's reality and the way this site and many others keep going.

Oh my god I could just rant about this all day long

formatela In reply to hgkjfgnhfiutyhnf [2014-03-21 21:23:38 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that's right. People do have to be paid and there is a limit to what people should expect to get for nothing.

Unfortunately though, some of us have paid Premium and we still aren't getting value for money. I'd rather have an art site where the deviation is displayed when I click on it, instead of just an empty frame with an 'x' in the corner. Along with all of the other problems that some of us have to put up with.

Super-Incognito In reply to hgkjfgnhfiutyhnf [2014-03-19 17:44:22 +0000 UTC]

Also, it's not that being a regular member blocks people from the most important dA's feature, which is presenting artworks to others. All the fancy features are cool, but they doesn't change the basic purpose of dA. dA doesn't have any upload limit, doesn't limit the amount of pictures per day or month, or doesn't limit the pictures size or dimension like some other websites do. People can present all their art no matter how much and how often and if they want something cooler, well, obviously they have to pay. This is not a charity institution.

Interesting addition indeed, will one be-able to see what types of devices (and software used) are viewing content? Since colours and what-not show up differently on each platform.

Yes, GA shows if your visitors use PCs or tablets or mobile phones and what types same as it shows what browsers they use.

Neat, I'll have to look more in depth as to the up and downs of using a service such as that on DA. Thanks for the reply my man.

running a site this big couldn't ever be for free. just be glad there is actually a site that cares to showcase creations from budding or professional artist. now that doesn't come with a premium, does it?

I totally agree with this, if you aren't willing or cannot buy a premium, than don't bitch about not having one.
