Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.
Get Deeper Insight Into Your deviantART Traffic
By enabling the feature on your profile, you can now use Google Analytics to get a better grasp on the deviantART experience that you’ve created for your audience!
- Understand what types of people are organically drawn to your work. Where do they live? How long are they on your page?
- See the impact of the marketing you do outside of deviantART. When you share your deviantART work and links in other networks and sites, you’ll be able to track the traffic back to your Journals, Gallery, Profile, and much more!
- Understand what your visitors are looking at when they’re on your Profile and even for how long! Sometimes visitor trends are unclear until you can see the bigger picture.
- Evaluate the difference in attention you get for some types of work versus others.
- See a direct correlation between your marketing activities to deviation submissions and spikes in traffic to your Journals, artwork, or Profile pages.
Learn More About Your Audience Knowing who is engaging with your Profile can help you make decisions about where to hang out, what Groups to join, and other things you might want to share with your audience.
Watch Realtime Activity Flow To Your Profile
Google's realtime reports allow you to sit back and watch activity happening on your content right this second.
View Traffic Stats For Your Content
Google Analytics allows you to dive into traffic stats for deviations, Journals, Galleries, Collections, and other areas of your Profile Page. See which deviations are the most popular today and find out where that traffic is coming from.
Track and Analyze Your Watches and Favourites
Our Google Analytics integration tracks when someone watches or adds your artwork to their favourites, allowing you to view charts and statistics of these events. How many favourites did Reddit traffic give you this week? How many new watchers did you gain last weekend after submitting your newest deviation? Did you gain more watchers this month or last month?
Favourites and Watches are available under Google Analytics' "Events" reports.
...And A Ton Of Other Reports
Here's just a sample of some of the stats you can see:
- Traffic charts, graphs, and statistics by date
- Traffic demographics (geographic locations, languages...)
- Visitor stats (new visitors, returning visitors, time spent on pages, number of pages viewed, bounce rates...)
- Top sites and social networks sending you traffic and, for some social networks, the individual posts that are linking to your content
- Search engine keywords people are using to find your Profile Page and content
Measure How Your Activity Impacts Your Audience Growth
Google Analytics can help you make decisions on how you manage your deviations. It can also allow you to see the impact of your on site activities.
- If you find that your audience is more active on certain days or times, you’ll be able to determine a schedule for posting new art or Journals.
- Perhaps you’ll find that the more you comment, the more you see your pageviews and watch list jump.
- If commenting, and critiquing others’ artwork for example, helps increase the level of activity on your Profile, perhaps you’ll decide to do this more frequently.

I think generally the rule in life is that if you need something badly enough you can usually find the money for it.
Unless of course you are living in a third world country where the 30 or so dollars for a 1 year premium membership represents 2 or 3 months wages, but if that was case you'd probably be worrying more about how you were going to buy your next meal. I don't think it applies to either of us.
I'm premium member by the way. I've tried this GA thing out and to be honest it ain't that great. I wouldn't worry too much about not having it.

You have to realize that running deviantART is probably some people's full time job. They have to make some money so they can live. It's not greedy to want to get paid for your job.

It's called ads and the commission widget, they get just as much if not more for all those paid advertisements.

Maybe that's not enough to pay every employee properly. Plus, it's not like they're forcing all users to pay, you can use deviantart as you like without paying anything.

Problem is non PMs do not have the overall advantage as paying members, and it's like having not enough money to buy upgrades. Each upgrade DA adds along seems to be for PMs all over, and this who have to wprk hard to earn money, or even aspiring artists, are led with very limited ways of even customising their own profile.

One year's subscription for a Premium Account costs literally $0.08 per day. Yeah, it's $29.95 for the whole year. However, that's really cheap for all they give in return. Also, it probably took their developers time to custom integrate the analytics for Deviant Art. Those developers need to eat too.

Yes you are absolutely right and I am so glad someone else is more or less saying the same thing that I am to some people.
Frankly I find this notion that everything should be free to be a little tedious, especially when it generally seems to be coming from people who live in some of the wealthiest cultures in the world.

Says the premium member. Not everyone has the money to buy even a year's worth, and this website is dedicated to help artists...how are non-premiums helped equally as you premium payers? Yeah don't give me "they need to eat" excuse, they can easily add downgraded versions of these for everyday members, and you think all those advertisements don't bring in the money? Oh please, PM is only 1 of the MANY ways DA is racking in the $$$'s

Let me guess, you are in high school and don't even have a job to pay for your own things? Ask for a Premium Account for your birthday or something. Yeah, Deviant Art makes a lot of money. So do many other entrepreneurs. Someday, I hope you have a great business plan and you yourself can become wealthy.

Stereotyping the High school student? No I'm not asking that for a birthday or nothing else, and I sell my work in real life for little profit because in the region I live, my style is not liked by many other people. Yes, I work hard academically to try and make a future for myself and try to get my name out, but a little extra help from DA is not much to ask for.

Not stereotyping. I read your journal. What region of the United States? Anime is huge in the US. Have you made any commissions through DA? If so, then DA has already helped you. You're young with plenty of time to get your name out. I'm not trying to attack you, just give you things to think about.

So the only people who have a right to an opinion are the people who hold the same opinion as you?
Forgive me for saying this, but you live in the largest free, democratic society in the world. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
You are not however, entitled to expect to be given everything you want without paying for it. If that was extended to society as a whole there would soon be nothing left.

Facebook offers all the basic things for free even. On a ART website, everyone should have more basic features available to them FOR FREE. Now RESPECT my opinion, and move along with your life.

You don't have to pay for it here. You are given the option. If you pay for it, you get it. If you choose not to pay for it. you do not get it.
Yes. I will respect your opinion and move along with my life. I was going to do that anyway.
You need to do the same, but I doubt that you will respect my opinion, because you obviously have no respect for people if they do not agree with you.

It's the idea that there is such a contrast to paying members and non-paying members. Many other art-based websites are far more giving than DA is, and non premium members are given far less. DA also makes tons of profit from their shop, advertisements, and even promotions. You would think they would x are just a little more about the features for non premiums.
PMs do not always understand the same things as someone who does not have one, at times.
But I have moved on, and just wanted to say DA DOES make loads of profit on not JUST PMs.

If it's free on other sites, it's quite stupid to ask money for it in another place.
It's the same when two fast food restaurants are close to eachother, but in one restaurant you get free refills and in the other you have to pay for refills. People will only come to the restaurant where you have to pay if it's really fcking special.
DeviantArt is making it too easy for people to go of to other sites, and be more happy there.

Excuse me for asking, but why is this important to you?
You've been here for a year, 0 deviations and 405 page views. What benefit do you think you would get from this?
If you need it, pay for it.

So if something is not for my benefit, I should not care about it?
That's not really a smart thing to say.

I didn't say that.
I asked a simple question and made a simple statement of fact.
If you want to get arsey about it that's your problem.

I love the artists on DA, not only the bigger artists, like Yuumei or other famous people on DA, but also the people that are not so well known. Those people don't often get the chance to sell their art, and they often don't make enough money to buy a DA premium membership. I would hate to see those people leave to other sites where they can get all of the things DA is offering in a premium membership, but then for free.
The fact that I don't have any art online doesn't mean that it's not for my benefit if DA is offering free stuff for free. I just want every artist to have the same possibilities they have on other sites, so they don't go elsewhere and we get to enjoy their art.

This is how life works. Company's want to make a profit. All sites will be like that soon.

It's either that, or some/most of us will go to the other sites.
It's slowly happening to YouTube too. One day we'll all just be divided in Vimeo and YT, same with DA, tumblr, etsy, etc.
Sad thing, though.

It's life. Companies will always look for ways to put prices up, make a profit etc.
Unlike what people believe, I do NOT approve of them using something free for profit. I do know on other sites it is free. I just know they MUST have a good reason to do so.

'' Why should it be given to people who do not pay? ''well maybe because IT IS FREE CONTENT?? Freeeee. They're making profit of something that is free. It is stupid to make anyone pay for it when you have it free in other sites like Timblr.
