Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.

Get Deeper Insight Into Your deviantART Traffic

By enabling the feature on your profile, you can now use Google Analytics to get a better grasp on the deviantART experience that you’ve created for your audience!

  • Understand what types of people are organically drawn to your work. Where do they live? How long are they on your page?
  • See the impact of the marketing you do outside of deviantART. When you share your deviantART work and links in other networks and sites, you’ll be able to track the traffic back to your Journals, Gallery, Profile, and much more!
  • Understand what your visitors are looking at when they’re on your Profile and even for how long! Sometimes visitor trends are unclear until you can see the bigger picture.
  • Evaluate the difference in attention you get for some types of work versus others.
  • See a direct correlation between your marketing activities to deviation submissions and spikes in traffic to your Journals, artwork, or Profile pages.

Learn More About Your Audience Knowing who is engaging with your Profile can help you make decisions about where to hang out, what Groups to join, and other things you might want to share with your audience.

Watch Realtime Activity Flow To Your Profile

Google's realtime reports allow you to sit back and watch activity happening on your content right this second.

View Traffic Stats For Your Content

Google Analytics allows you to dive into traffic stats for deviations, Journals, Galleries, Collections, and other areas of your Profile Page. See which deviations are the most popular today and find out where that traffic is coming from.

Track and Analyze Your Watches and Favourites

Our Google Analytics integration tracks when someone watches or adds your artwork to their favourites, allowing you to view charts and statistics of these events. How many favourites did Reddit traffic give you this week? How many new watchers did you gain last weekend after submitting your newest deviation? Did you gain more watchers this month or last month?

Favourites and Watches are available under Google Analytics' "Events" reports.

...And A Ton Of Other Reports

Here's just a sample of some of the stats you can see:

  • Traffic charts, graphs, and statistics by date
  • Traffic demographics (geographic locations, languages...)
  • Visitor stats (new visitors, returning visitors, time spent on pages, number of pages viewed, bounce rates...)
  • Top sites and social networks sending you traffic and, for some social networks, the individual posts that are linking to your content
  • Search engine keywords people are using to find your Profile Page and content

Measure How Your Activity Impacts Your Audience Growth

Google Analytics can help you make decisions on how you manage your deviations. It can also allow you to see the impact of your on site activities.

  • If you find that your audience is more active on certain days or times, you’ll be able to determine a schedule for posting new art or Journals.

  • Perhaps you’ll find that the more you comment, the more you see your pageviews and watch list jump.
  • If commenting, and critiquing others’ artwork for example, helps increase the level of activity on your Profile, perhaps you’ll decide to do this more frequently.

I don't complain because I don't give a fuck about DA features. They can release whatever, I'm not interested in any of this. But don't correct people with fake statements.

formatela In reply to Nyekii [2014-03-21 22:58:02 +0000 UTC]

This is not the main reason why people are leaving DA. Maybe a small number but not many.
Most people I know who have left this site have done so because its role as a communal gathering place  for artists  has been undermined by DA's attempts to turn it into a social networking site, without bothering to upgrade their infrastructure accordingly. And also because DA seems to be more interested in its generic social networkers than its artists. Usually they summarise it when they leave with a comment along the lines of 'this isn't the place I used to love'.

also dA does literally nothing to help the artists who have gotten their art traced/stolen/used without permission

formatela In reply to Nyekii [2014-03-24 12:42:53 +0000 UTC]

That's true, although realistically there is little they would be able to do outside of DA. But you're right, they don't seem to care too much about stuff like that. The place is riddled with stolen imagery, much of it almost hard core pornographic.

this website is supposed to be a community of artists working together; but it's turning into a front for poorly traced bases and the such. I get really tired of seeing the same bases used over and over again, along with some other things people on here typically turn to.

Deviantart is a great website. However, that being said, premium accounts are the website's greatest downfall. They cost a lot of money that I don't own. The few "easy" ways we can get points, I don't feel like doing them. So, why can't DeviantArt at least give free gadgets to non-premium users on a single day of the year? It would at least let them keep the gadgets on their page.

formatela In reply to TakUser [2014-03-21 23:08:33 +0000 UTC]

If you want this badly enough you would pay for it or at least try to earn the points to pay for it. Saying that there are a few 'easy ways' to get points but you 'don't feel like doing them' means that you don't want it badly enough.

I'm quite sure it violates Google Analytics terms of use cause you can't take money for service what is meant to be free.
Interesting times ahead.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

formatela In reply to KuldarLeement [2014-03-21 23:04:44 +0000 UTC]

It does not violate Google's terms.
If you read far enough you will also find that this is not wholly a free service. If DA's global usage of this service exceeds a certain (very high) level, they have to pay.
Which is quite likely the reason they have made this available to Premium members. DA have been using this service for years to gather their own management stats - maybe they are now reaching or have exceeded the  level at which they will have to start paying.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KuldarLeement In reply to formatela [2014-03-22 00:27:55 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, but if you have used it before then you know it's very silly thing to as money for. I'm also web designer and i know what google analytics can offer - it's really not that special mate.
Like how many people visit your specific page and what are the most wanted pages and what are biggest exit pages etc. Are you popular only in America or are you also know in India.
Who actually cares about it? Are you going to make art only for specific region? This information is only useful for Google and people who actually own the website. You can't change the behavior of you deviantart page.
And of course deviantart have to pay for it and that's why you silly premium members have to also pay. It's not bad to support community, but it's silly to ask money for any new feature what they can come up with.
All those premium plugins are only useful to mess up you front page - that's all. If you worry about ads, then use adblock (only fools pay for this kind of stuff).

formatela In reply to KuldarLeement [2014-03-22 01:00:23 +0000 UTC]

I agree entirely with everything you are saying. It's definitely not for me. It's overkill. I work with stats and I know their value but I also know that sometimes the stats can get in the way of the real issues.  And to be honest I come to DA to get away from that kind of thing. Art is my hobby and I enjoy it. If I ever  was good enough as an artist to sell my stuff then I'd be overjoyed and I might need some management stats, but I definitely would not be selling from DA - I don't have the confidence in the site to make it a base for any financial transactions.
And actually, I paid for Premium to get rid of the ads, which I find annoying, especially the ones with sound. I also hoped that getting rid of the ads would improve the load times on DA's pages but it didn't. To be honest the site is not really fit for purpose any more in my opinion and when my Premium runs out in 18 months or so I won't be renewing. As it is, I hardly post any art here anymore, it's become too tedious. I wish they would spend some time and money making their infrastructure fit for purpose instead of wasting it on things like this.

Now that is the real thing here - if you noticed, then one site update mentioned image size problem - they corrected it a bit, but DA still stretches you images in some sizes - for example if you choose like 1280x720px size, then actual image size they display is something like 1260x710px or something, BUT they stretch it to fit as it is 1280x720p - the result is a bit more blurrier images (it has really bugged me cause in flick all converted images are so clear, but here they are blurry and i wanted to send them example, but if i downloaded it for page then they where just as clear as the flickr images - also if you display original size, then images are clear. this is okay for be cause i usually display it as they are, but for people fo upload like bigger igames here for prints and they choose to display smaller sizes, then their images are a bit blurry). Also mobile version is just no working and there are lot of more issues on artist front pages than we all can imagine. It like a bit Adobe here - who don't let old structure go to make new and better one, they just ad more sparkle on it, but actually all site performance stays the same.

They are not directly selling the use of the service so they are not violating the Terms of Use.

I actually don't care just saying - it's almost the same case like firefox had in UK - Dell was offering service to install firefox on laptops and they where charging 20 dollars for that (firefox is free and assuming the installation takes only some minutes it was really bad thing to do + also they agree user agreement for you what isn't actually the thing they can decide).
