Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.

Get Deeper Insight Into Your deviantART Traffic

By enabling the feature on your profile, you can now use Google Analytics to get a better grasp on the deviantART experience that you’ve created for your audience!

  • Understand what types of people are organically drawn to your work. Where do they live? How long are they on your page?
  • See the impact of the marketing you do outside of deviantART. When you share your deviantART work and links in other networks and sites, you’ll be able to track the traffic back to your Journals, Gallery, Profile, and much more!
  • Understand what your visitors are looking at when they’re on your Profile and even for how long! Sometimes visitor trends are unclear until you can see the bigger picture.
  • Evaluate the difference in attention you get for some types of work versus others.
  • See a direct correlation between your marketing activities to deviation submissions and spikes in traffic to your Journals, artwork, or Profile pages.

Learn More About Your Audience Knowing who is engaging with your Profile can help you make decisions about where to hang out, what Groups to join, and other things you might want to share with your audience.

Watch Realtime Activity Flow To Your Profile

Google's realtime reports allow you to sit back and watch activity happening on your content right this second.

View Traffic Stats For Your Content

Google Analytics allows you to dive into traffic stats for deviations, Journals, Galleries, Collections, and other areas of your Profile Page. See which deviations are the most popular today and find out where that traffic is coming from.

Track and Analyze Your Watches and Favourites

Our Google Analytics integration tracks when someone watches or adds your artwork to their favourites, allowing you to view charts and statistics of these events. How many favourites did Reddit traffic give you this week? How many new watchers did you gain last weekend after submitting your newest deviation? Did you gain more watchers this month or last month?

Favourites and Watches are available under Google Analytics' "Events" reports.

...And A Ton Of Other Reports

Here's just a sample of some of the stats you can see:

  • Traffic charts, graphs, and statistics by date
  • Traffic demographics (geographic locations, languages...)
  • Visitor stats (new visitors, returning visitors, time spent on pages, number of pages viewed, bounce rates...)
  • Top sites and social networks sending you traffic and, for some social networks, the individual posts that are linking to your content
  • Search engine keywords people are using to find your Profile Page and content

Measure How Your Activity Impacts Your Audience Growth

Google Analytics can help you make decisions on how you manage your deviations. It can also allow you to see the impact of your on site activities.

  • If you find that your audience is more active on certain days or times, you’ll be able to determine a schedule for posting new art or Journals.

  • Perhaps you’ll find that the more you comment, the more you see your pageviews and watch list jump.
  • If commenting, and critiquing others’ artwork for example, helps increase the level of activity on your Profile, perhaps you’ll decide to do this more frequently.

Well because wealthy inequality is now at a 90+ year high in the US, we are right back in the era of Robber Barons, now termed mega-corporations, way of running things. How so? Well 400 Americans have more access to more wealth than 150 million of their countrymen, scares me how about you? I've heard it called some term, oligarchy, but to me it sounds like the same feudal based system ye olde Americans tried to escape before they made the Constitution, fuck that! Hopefully those mystery floating barges they're building off San Francisco aren't for a robot army!

Ziega In reply to Deepblu742 [2014-03-27 01:47:18 +0000 UTC]

Its really sad that only select Americans can be wealthy, just because they run big businesses.
It does scare me, and all we can do is protest as they take our tax money and make America
worse. And also the fact that they cannot tell the American's their secrets after spending
millions of our hard worked money into building things that we question daily. (I'm a big
believer in Area 51 and their secrets.) But if they just told us they were doing classified things,
WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO WONDER. This reply was very off topic but everything about these
topics have been vexing me for the longest time. Sorry you were the one to witness it.

I placed the url of my portfolio into the Google Analytics ID setup page, generated the code, then put the new code into the DA settings code box. Is that enough to monitor my portfolio?

And I doubt very much that Premium members will get sidetracked. I turned this thing on and frankly it ain't that great. It's overkill for my 10 pages a week.
But if you want it a Premium membership costs about 30 USD a year. That's about the same as 1 chocolate bar per week. Make a choice.

What event types should we be seeing?  I have had comments and new watchers today, but when I view events in GA with today's date, it only shows me that people have favorited one of of my deviations.  The screenshots above show a graph with both favorites and watches, so I was expecting to see watch events at least.

Thanks.

Some general questions :-

Why do people say 'I need this' when what they actually mean is 'I want this'? Don't they know the difference?

Why do so many people living in the most affluent cultures in the world think that they have a right to be given everything from the day they are born?

Why does someone with 0 deviations, 800 pageviews and 4 comments even think that they want this, leave alone need it ?

Why do so many people have to ask if it's only for Premium members when the first sentence of the journal actually says that it's only for Premium members.

Why are people asking for help to set the thing up when there is actually a big green 'Get Started' button in the journal that takes you straight to a really good set of instructions?

Air is free. But if you put it in a container and sell it to a deep sea diver he has to pay for it. So why do so many people think that DA shouldn't be allowed to charge for their containerised implementation of GA?

If it's free on Facebook and Facebook does the business for you then why are you still here moaning at the rest of us. Why don't you just go to Facebook and give the rest of us some peace?

Why do so many people say something along the lines of 'You aren't entitled to an opinion because it's not the same as mine?' and then end their reply to you by saying 'Now please respect my opinion and go away'? It's even worse when they add a smiley. It just looks so smug and immature.

I've started to automatically say 'Your welcome' even though I know it's a spelling mistake. Is there a way that I can automatically track and resolve this?

I am absolutely convinced that DA and Google are not stalking my every move and it's left me feeling undervalued. Does this mean I'm paranoid with low self esteem or is it normal?

If dA told everybody to go find the free stuff elsewhere, it will go down (which in some, way, it kind of is, it already started). So no, we will moan and grown, because one of the roles of the comment section is to express criticism. If dA doesn't like criticism, they are in it for all the wrong reasons.
