He does it a lot in the expanded universe. I'm pretty sure he's fell into and escaped from a sarlaac pit like 3 times. Writers thought he was too cool to die.

Unfortunately thou, now the Star Was rights were sold to Disney, they scrapped the expanded universe and non of it is canon anymore. Not even the parts where Bulbasaur escapes the Snorlax pit. Those bastards.

Disney has still allowed Boba's survival to be canon, just the manner and time of his escape/rescue is up to whoever is writing the new book that says he did.
The purpose of the retcon was to give some creative freedom to film/game-developers whose projects are set outside of the Pre-Disney saga, like The Force Awakens and relieve the stress of having to stick to an ungodly amount of books, a lot of which would probably wind up clashing(creating more stress for the writers in all departments).

Besides, you don't honestly think they won't paraphrase/revive any of the old books' lore in the new stuff, do you?

All I said was that they scrapped the expanded universe. Weather Bilbo Fett escapes or not is really for debate. Maybe Bob A. Feet will in his spin off movie in a couple of years (Fett's getting a spin off movie in a couple of years in case you didn't know) or it will be about Fett's early years.Β

Where is this confirmation that Disney will have Fett escape? I've looked everywhere (not recently but plenty of times prior.)
I greatly disagree about the retcon mainly because:
-There are plenty of fans out there that have followed EVERYTHING. They should have been the first considered for those jobs or the ones taking those jobs should have had higher expectations. It's possible.
-Big slap in the face to the people that made the old content and the people that bought it. Its like ripping a page out of the bible.
-Some old stories were objectively better than what replaced them.
-Paraphrasing is a pretty salty reminder of what happened...

Whether Disney has confirmed it I don't know, but back when it still belonged to Lucas he confirmed that Boba Fett lived and it is canon. Then again it was never actually shown in anything that is considered canon so whether or not Disney keeps to what Lucas said is anyone's guess.
Also I agree. I'll admit the old EU could be complicated due to the amount of stories, but so much great stuff got retconned. I'm hoping they at least bring back some of the main characters from the EU. After all this is like a separate timeline/universe where there are some characters that are in both. No reason why they couldn't bring in other characters from the EU.
