One question though. What do you mean by render? I assume zoom in and work out the rough lines. Please tell me if I'm wrong (confused due render in 3D is an option).
Cheers again

When you're rendering in digital paintings I believe it's meant to paint in details. As you see in this tutorial you'll have to add in the base colors at first for later rendering the base colors so they look more refined.

Ok, thought so but had to make sure that I didn't overlook some option or something.
Cheers for the answer.

Cheers for this. I don't understand half of it but I'm sure I do once I'm beginning to apply it in PS.

Thank you for being very detailed with this tutorial, Dan. I appreciate the attention to detail, right down to pictures of the brushes, and sample strokes to illustrate the effects. Please keep it up for future posts!
I'm sure the other artists on DA who are learning digital techniques appreciate this as well.

Awesome tutorial! I got myself a Cintiq 21UX about two weeks ago so your work and tutorials have been quite the inspiration to really focus, try new techniques, and see about improving my work. Thanks again for all this awesomeness!

Awesome, man, tks for sharing!
Dan,
you said that you use the chalk brush to block the colors and to blend them. It's hard to me to use the chalk brush to do these things. I think the results are too rough on my work, I can't achieve the realistic, and the creamy feel of you paintings using these kind of brushes. Any tips, mate?

This tutorial and your amazing brush set are quite close to making me finish a picture. And I haven't finished a picture for about half a year.
