And, yeah, that seems to be the reason. In my case, I got bored easily playing it and didn't even finish it. I have spoiled myself with the ending and all that stuff, tho xD
But this also seems to happen to other kirby games that didn't get too much recognition, such as Mass Attack or Epic Yarn, to give an example (I saw more fan arts of Epic Yarn, tho, but most of them are Kirby and Prince Fluff related, and I'm talking about bosses fan arts too, I just didn't see a lot of them xD). It seems to happen when they try something more different on new kirby games, sadly :/ But there are exceptions too, like Canvas Curse, for example. I've seen a lot of Drawcia fan arts around there and I love them

I got spoiled on TKCD's ending too, but I did beat it (not going for 100% tho).
Yeah, it's always really unfortunate when that happens. :c Happened with the Mario & Luigi series too: Awesome and memorable characters, little recognition because the series is a spin-off so fewer people play them.
Funny you mention Drawcia! She's actually one of my favourite Kirby characters (despite the fact that I've never played Canvas Curse) and I love drawing her.

Spin-off games are underrated We need to give more love and appreciation to those games too, even if they aren't from the main series
I actually played Canvas Curse a loooong time ago. I didn't finish it either and I don't remember why, I was little
But it was enjoyable
