The face is what we look first. Focus on the face.
You can start copying some designs you like, then, you learn to do yourself
I started copying the designs of Disney, then moved to Japanese manga, and some comics (strange isn't it?)
When I realized, I already had my own style of drawing
Then, I think the fastest way to learn to draw is to copy it, but do not get hung up on one style.
