Description
Well, what was close to happening didn't. Since the BBC eventually passed on, you will be rewarded with! This is the pitch poster I had only 7 hours to do. Starting to with first Doctor, the series would have touched on all the versions and filled in some gaps.Related content

I hate to be a thorn in your rose bush, but there was an animated Doctor Who called The Infinite Quest, so they did touch on animating the Doctor, but I guess it was just the Tenth Doctor.Β

because I did not explain a thing! so you start doing animated series if you leave them at the end with no end? To me you are a real motherfucker, forgive me but it's true

The Beeb are always funny about the Doctor Who license,Β Β they were going to make a prequel of when he was a child before Russell T. Davis Nixed it.
And there's also the whole pitched Nelvana Doctor Who cartoon in the 80s that was also canned.Β Β Though The Doctor looked like Egon from The Real Ghostbusters in it!

I;m sorry. I'm a bit thick. Does this mean Doctor Who was going to have an animated mini series?

It was a pitch for a series. The BBC entertained the notion, but ultimately passed.

how long ago was this. Because I recall seeing somewhere that Doctor Who has increased in popularity.

Awesome art ,actually a animated series would be a good way to revisit some of the older doctors without having to raise the dead.

Epic does not begin to describe it. If BBC didn't want to trans mit, maybe could have been made into a web series.

The fools! This could have been really cool and would have no doubt boosted viewership of the live action, particularly amongst newer younger viewers. Great poster.

You know this would be my dream. The possibilities are endless with a doctor who animated series and you could alternate between doctors depending on the story, do multidoctor stories whenever, have all the old cast back and sound alikes for first three doctors, not worry about budget for special effects and costuming......god damn it'd be perfect I'm angry now haha

Well good luck in making your doctor who animated series pitch (hope it is made as an animated miniseries)
and letβs hope it can be seen in CBBC
I mean after all 2013 is doctor whoβs 50th anniversary .
PS: Sorry that the thundercats 2012 series will never be revived we should have seen a real closure to the series if the series is revived.

Ohh sorry about that ,I guess people aren't interested in watching this doctor who animated spinoff,Maybe you can make a better animated pitch so that it wont cause a hiatus (and immediate cancellation) after the season finale and will give a proper closure during its true final season.

Wow!
I must say,I like the art style you have,I dunno why,but it seems to really fit this Doctor, kind of like with Otaking's anime version with the 3rd Doctor. Honestly I think BBC should give something like this another look,I could honestly see them taking an Big Finish audio drama and adding animation to it,that would be awesome for the 7th and 8th Doctors.

Oh, I would have watched the HELL out of that! I've thought about how great it would be to see an animated series with the classic Doctors myself. For Patrick Troughton, they could get his son to voice the Doctor. (He appeared in the episode Midnight. Sounds a lot like his father.)
Maybe someday... maybe someday.

Thanks for sharing, Dan.
