Edit: Fixed the lines on the actual drawing, but none of these photographs ever turn out the same way twice, so the fire effect isn't exactly the same as before ;x; That black spot that wasn't there on the first upload? Yeah that's what happens when working with candle wax.

This. Is. Amazing. I don't know I havn't commented on this before, but the fire effect looks great and I'm not sure what it is about them, but I just really love those strings. The hair looks wavy and awesome and I personally love that outfit! Keep it up!

I wanted to do a whole series of fire-effect pictures but... it's a bit difficult. xD It has to be prepared for the fire even before you start drawing, like it has to be a scene that would look good with fire near it, and the shadows in the drawing need to match where you put the candle later.... and since I'm more of an ice person than a fire person I'm having trouble coming up with good fire-themed pics. Also the camera is annoying and it's hard to get a picture to show up just right with light that low. But I'd still like to do some more later, and maybe use fire with my models as well as drawings. o3o

I was surprised at it actually :0 it's been a long time since I drew this character (he ended up with some of Yuichi's traits "surreptitiously" added in) and he was originally really really hard to learn so I can't believe how much I did from memory. When I compared the sketch to a reference later to see if everything was right, the only thing I'd forgot was two buttons and the only thing I couldn't remember without the reference was what color part of his suit-thing-design was around the outside of the triangle bit.
But anyway, the black paper and candle effects are quite fun. C:

This is lovely! I love the contrast of prismas on black paper. The hands look great too! I can never get my hands to look quite right.

It's really bothering me that one eye is outlined darker than the other (it looks totally different once it's on camera with fire) and I did fix it, but then I couldn't get it to retake as good as this one and then it ended up with candle wax on it so now it's stuck this way. 
Was going to upload both the fire version and the scanned version but ended up not scanning it because I'd like to start a set of these.

This is especially awesome for your first time using black paper. I'd be curious to see the scan if you ever decide to upload it, but the photos by candlelight is a really neat technique.

I really should scan it just to see the difference. 
Normally I draw a base and then trace it for cleaner lines but obviously you can't trace through black construction paper, so I had to lay the base on top of it and outline it very hard so it would imprint the black paper. 
I took a better pic of the fixed version but now the candle wax goof is visible. ;w; Definitely make sure the drawing is DONE before using the camera, because they will never ever turn out the same way twice if you need to fix something and retake them.
