I drew this picture when I was away from home starting my new job. All through high school I took kendo, and even had my own real metal katana that I was so proud of. I missed both while I was away and this picture came about while I was reminiscing.

I was inspired by the awesome movie The Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa and the character in the story called Kyuzo. He was my most favorite character. The quiet, humble, stoic types always get me.

I was never able to finish this because I kept messing up the tsuba (guard) of the sword and couldn't get it right to save my life! Even after I had my sword in my possession again I never returned to this drawing for some reason. I don't know why because I really like this sketch ...

Sorry for the extremely poor scan of this image. At least you can see the areas I worked on the hardest which were his hands and face. I'll have to finish this up on Photoshop one of these days.

[EDIT] Ack! You can see the image I drew with a marker on the other side of the page!! How embarrassing!!!
