Description Like everyone else alive, I love the turtles. I find, tho, that they fall into the category for me of "things I still draw as symbols". You know how those art books always start out by telling you that at first you're going to be drawing symbols rather than real objects and volumes? An eye, for example, will be a pointy-ended ellipse with two circles in it. A mouth will be a line with a couple curves on either side for lips. You learn that there are real shapes, real forms there and gradually you become a better artist.

HOWEVER! Turtles, Wolverine, Judge Dredd, anyone from street fighter - all the characters I loved when I was younger, they're still symbols when I try to draw them. They're collections of finished art (from other people) in my head, not real 3d people I can spin around and observe and draw and pose. Judge dredd's mouth is still an angular, upside-down U. Don't even go into Guile.

Turtles are still Jim Lawson's from issue 26 (I think) with the Mer-People, or the tv cartoon.

Any other cats get this problem?
