Very cool work!

I remember sitting on my couch back in the 1990s, drinking a beer or two, and laughing at the TV show.  The movie ... as I believe you are referencing ... was supposed to be a comedy/spoof on this sort of melodrama, but the TV show made it serious.  And I could not take it serious.  I'm not trying to bash either, but this is the problem with changing the theme or genre of a movie or TV show: you often loose your audience.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen much of the TV. I do hear good things about it. However, I remember loving the movie because it was so wacky... and Pee Wee Herman was in it. I recall begging my parents to take me to the theater to see this movie, and saw it countless times on VHS. It's a silly movie, and it never turned out to very popular, but I always had a soft spot for the film.

Thanks for commenting, Princess.

I remember seeing it in the theaters back when I was still living at home with my folks and doing the multiple night audit jobs while working at the Cyberstation down in Brunswick, Georgia.  It was at a time where I was still dealing with the passing of a beloved friend and trying to figure out where I was going in my own life.  It would be a year later that I would be packing up to move to Savannah to start my adventures in going to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design.)  In a way, I felt like poor Buffy, but it never made much of a blip for me.  It was just a funny movie that came and went.

That's why I always thought it was so strange to see it as a TV show ...

My pleasure!
