My new favorite dramatic duo!

I experimented with a new technique with this piece. I use the airbrush very little for this one, maybe 5% oppose to the usual 90%.

I start off with the initial pencil sketch, next stage I paint the blacks in, then normally I would I start airbrushing. Instead, I use a brush, and lay down the base colors with acrylic washes and transparent paint.

Now, I use the airbrush to lightly spray white over the faces to smooth the transition of tone values (don’t over do it, that was a mistake I made, and had to rework it to get it back in shape). I also use the airbrush to glaze over the whole piece with blue.

That is all the airbrush work I did.

Then, I sharpen features up with Prismacolor color pencils, and finally add highlights with acrylic white paint.

For the background, I used a Palette Knife to created the red texture.
