Description

Ah yes, the sleeker, wolfier relative of T. rex; I've rather taken a liking to G. libratus lately, most probably due to the recent publicity of the animal in the ( ill-fated ) Walking With Dinosaurs film. This Gorgosaurus is seeking relief for his itchy flank by rubbing it against a nearby tree. The non all-encompassing integuement on this G. libratus is an example of speculative seasonal feathering, in which the animal sheds a portion of it's feathery coat when the seasons change.

The fetching, iridescent blue hue of the WWD film's Gorgosaurus characters is absolutely stunning to me, blue being my favorite color, and I couldn't resist the chance to paint this G. libratus in a similar fashion. The facial pattern is also inspired in large part by the Tyrannosaurus in the indie game project Saurian! Just an aside to the people reading this that are interested in both video games and dinosaurs, Saurian is a really neat indie game in development that's running under the premise of letting the player grow and survive as a dinosaur of their choice; go look it up!
