Description
My version of when Ahsoka first meets Anakin as Darth Vader. I wanted there to be something ominous and tentative about this at the same time. That's why neither character has a light saber activated. Ahsoka is wondering for a moment -- just a moment -- could her former master find an ember of humanity inside him? At the same time she is ready for what the answer is likely to be.The relationship between these two characters is the most potent connection the creators behind Star Wars made in the post-prequel, pre-Force Awakens era.
I have been a lifelong Star Wars fan, and yet this is the first time I've ever "seriously" drawn Darth Vader. I went very old school on his look. In the very first version of this image, his mask was much more like Ralph McQuarrie's original concept art (that black metal demon samurai look), but it's being overused these days, so I went movie-traditional.
