Long time no upload. Been busy, life is complicated, but I'm surviving. Been teaching myself a new style, where painting is the key component. Pushing my boundaries alot. But it's a ton of fun.OTL please don't smack me if it's not your prefered style from me.

floor was done using a simple shape tool with different colored rectangles, which then i used a round brush to create the basic textures. from there I did some gradients on the top and dropped in the environment lighting. its all hand done with 1 brush technically

Yus, it's important to drink responsibly! (Which is why I rarely drink at all, really.) And damn, may I also say you've improved IMMENSELY. The floor looks realistically textured, the shading is magnificent, and Faulkner's expression is priceless.

I have to say that this is looking very good Dan. It's nice to see Faulkner in your ever evolving style. I'm just loving the handing tie and all that fuzz X3
Over all the peice gives a very warm yet Solitude atmosphere perhaps fitting for the CEO of a large company with no SO or young (as yet revealed to us if my mind recalls correctly)
I'm not sure why but I think that maybe. Just maybe this would look a little better and deeper with some tears. Assuming that he is slightly inebriated of course. Also scotch. Yes yes yes yes yes. And the detail and most crucially translucency of the ice makes me want to get my tumbler and the good stuff out and go sit in my arm chair.

looking though the other comments perhaps this could depict some kind of moral trouble or mental dilemma for Faulkner. perhaps related to Syron and past Father issues?
maybe you could use something like the estranged father - child just wanting to make them proud kind of scenario. roundabout stepping in to act as a father figure for Syron in a way that his own father perhaps didn't. given Syron's family (from past evidence only) isn't exactly all that stable upstairs.

Wow, really, the little #$@%er is RIGHT THERE? They made a whole movie about finding him and even then the folks that had 'em didn't realize he could talk...either Mr. Faulkner's gotta stop staying up making pudding at 4 in the morning, or he's so drunk right now it's a surprise his laboratory hasn't started looking like a neo-50s casinopunk cabaret ^___^;
