Stamp Request for ~gaarasbestbuddy0 (lol u mad).so i made a journal earlier asking whether or not you thought Shadow the Hedgehog should have remained dead after SA2. I thought yes and here's why. I don't hate the character by any means, but what Sega's done with him recently has really defeated the purpose of his original design.
He was put in SA2 to serve as a rival to Sonic and to provide the underlying drive to the story of how a revenge-filled villain can go from being evil, to becoming the greatest of heroes by sacrificing it all in the end to save the entirety of humanity.
SA2's ending made it so Shadow filled his role to its entirety. You dont need games like Shadow the Hedgehog to go into backstories that only muddy the character. In a sense, everything we need to know about shadow (or all that is necessary for him to be a strong character) seems self contained in SA2. A character that goes from being a vengeful villain to becoming one of the greatest heroes in his final acts is storytelling perfection. Its bittersweet. We hate to see him go but we were overjoyed of what happened while he was here and couldn't ask for any more.
... and then Sega brought him back, completely defeating the purpose.
Yes i know he's a good character, but think of it this way: Not every fantastic movie needs a sequel to be great. Sometimes the best things are the ones we only get for a short time. Then we realize how great it actually is because of how limited and wondrous it is in its prime. It forces you to savor it, and that is what truly makes something memorable.
but hey! money $$$. Yeah... Shadow is one of SEGA's cash cows...
That's my opinion. He should've remained dead. The story seems so much better that way in terms of impact.
short, sweet, and strong.
but this stamp is probably gonna do a decent job at pissing off every shadow cultist here on dA, so come at me bro. Smite me oh mighty smiters!

I've never played Sonic '06 so you'd have more knowledge of that than I would.
Same here. He fulfilled his purpose and was willing to fully answer Maria's wish.
Well, when I look at it, his death would've earned him MUCH more respect than he has now believe it or not. (Look at Robin Williams' recent death for example.) Deceased characters can be great as well and I don't think it wouldn't have effected the memorability of SA2B.
However, like I told someone else, you can't stop people from forming opinions and also not everyone in the Sonic fan base is the same age. Some only grew up with the modern Sonic games (Unleashed, Colors, etc) and can't really get into the classic games. Some only grew up with the classics and don't prefer the newer games. Some like a mixture of both. It's just how it goes. There's no need for such hatred for their difference of preferences.
I do agree that Sonic Heroes doesn't have that adult theme appeal to it and the remaining Sonic games were sorely lacking in my opinion.
I only played Sonic Battle for fun and to see if I could get my appeal back, it didn't work. I agree that if Shadow was going to be brought back, it should've only been for party games and such. Very well said.
Yeah, they've ruined Knuckles, Sonic, and Shadow in every way. Eggman is rather a lost cause to begin with so I'm not surprised about that at all. Tails isn't too bad and I'm surprised he's not that much different from before.
Everyone can get a little off topic when it's something they care deeply about. It's no problem really. Having nice, respectful conversations is a rare treat on the Internet.

Maybe you should watch a walkthrough of '06. Not counting Shadow, part of me still fights over whether it was a good game or not. It had potential but I think they rushed it and made it too childish. In a game where they decided to kill Sonic for the first time on screen, too.
I don't know... I guess I expect Sonic Team to actually /try/ on their games. Could I be sued for this? Haha. I have seen what they can do when it comes to Sonic Adventure 1 and especially 2, so they have no excuse to waste my money now. It's like the Pokemon Company and Crystal. After GSC they need to stop giving us shit. lol.
I agree... I think Shadow would have been remembered for actually standing up for what he believes in and dying for a cause. Most people would not do something as heroic as that, and I am not a fan of considering all characters like him heroic, but he was Maria's hero and he ultimately saved the world in her honor. I think he was mostly Maria's hero than anything, that sits well with me, and I like Shadow for that fact. I think Shadow's presence would be much stronger if he were deceased. I'm still in shock that someone actually agrees with me over this. I grew up mostly with the TV shows, that is what got me into the Sonic universe in the first place, but the Adventure series hooked me and trapped me. lol.
I think when they got rid of the adult appeal I fell out of it. I think the Sonic universe is much better when rated for teens... I mean it's an adventure game for God's sake. And even when they made that god forsaken Shadow the Hedgehog game he was cursing and using guns (Shadow is too smart to curse anyway...) it still didn't have that teen appeal that it could have had like SA2. I don't need the cursing or the weapons. The Eclipse Cannon was good enough for me.
I played Sonic Battle and absolutely sucked at it... I remember somewhat liking it, not the story but the free-battle. Mostly for Shadow. *facepalm*
Eggman was absolutely awesome in SA1 and 2, but ever since he got those two damn robots who argue with his every command he became comic relief. Don't you miss the good old days whenever a robot could simply misunderstand and ask a question and get dismantled or living creatures feared Roboticization? Ahh, those were the days!
Yep. If you get onto an actual Sonic forum though, don't expect people to be as respectful as we are. If we were on a Sonic forum someone would be like, "OH MY GOD SOMEONE DOESN'T WANT SHADOW DEAD FUCKING RETARD." And then make an actual topic in the forums about how much of a retard you are and everyone will agree and no law on the internet could help stop that flame war. lol

I think I'll do that to get a better feel for what the game is about. But I do know that they killed off Sonic in that game and it's first time he's been kissed by a human character. (Which sent many in the Sonic fanbase into a rage.)
I absolutely agree with you. It seems like the longer the series runs on, the more likely it is to fall to shambles. Take the Mario franchise for prime example. There's anime that also falls down the same slope. (Detective Conan, Pokemon, etc).
*claps* Brilliantly said! I couldn't agree more! Shadow's not a hero to all, but he was Maria's hero and that was what truly mattered in the end. Yeah, it's hard to find folks who share this point of view due to their cultist view on Shadow. I too am fixated on the Adventure series which were to me the last great Sonic games. However, I grew up with the original Sonic in the 1990s. (Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, etc Good times!) That was my first introduction to the Sonic franchise.
Well said once again. The appeal seems to now focus on young children and there was no need for all the cussing and gun toting that happened in Shadow the Hedgehog.
I love those types of battle games (I love SSBM and SSBB) so I enjoyed Sonic Battle as well. Even though I loved the game, it wasn't enough for me to get back into the Sonic franchise.
Very true once again Eggman is now the comic relief villain and nowhere near his former evil glorious self. That's also a side effect of them making the franchise more kiddy.
Oh trust me I know. That's why I don't dabble with any fan forums especially Sonic's. Very few of them are respectful and enjoyable like this conversation is. (Well, if you're into He-man and the Masters of the Universe, that fanbase has a very cool group of people.)

I played Sonic '06 for the first time I think back in '07 or '08. I have extremely mixed opinions about that game. To be fair, I think that it had awesome potential, but it still held absolutely no match to the Adventure series. It had pretty interesting levels and it had a storyline that WOULD have been pretty damn good if the same people who had worked on the Adventure series had worked on it. I have no idea why so many people freaked out over Elise kissing Sonic, the scene wasn't actually all that bad, she did it to revive him and she had a bit of a crush on him. I'm pretty sure Chris Thorndyke would have absolutely thrown himself at the chance if he could, and not many people seem to have too much of a problem imagining Eggman and Sonic screw around in fanart, and don't get me started on the Shadria fans... So I have no idea what everyone is bitching about on that note. Elise was kind of a boring character, but in my opinion Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog were way worse. Not a huge fan of the Secret Rings either. Mephiles was a pretty good villain, but he was kind of pitifully plotted out and he was obsessed with getting Shadow on his side. Shadow was overdramatically good and kind toward his friends, and Rouge acted like a clingy girlfriend. I think they focused on all the wrong things. (Personally even if I DID believe that Shadow survived after SA2, I don't imagine he would even hang out with the main group or get involved in their problems. I see he honestly would just vanish. I mean, he doesn't seem like the type who would risk his life for strangers... He only did that in the very end of SA2 all because the one person that he felt he had made a connection with asked him to, and even then it took her mere memory to do it, so that right there proves that he only focused on her and has no intention of helping Sonic in the future.)
I think Spyro falls greatly into that category too. I think Pokemon barely picked up in X and Y, but Black and White 1 and 2 make me shudder to think about. I hated those games so terribly I wanted to simply die at the thought of having to train Pokemon in them. Of course, Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal though... Paradise! *Points to avatar* Obviously. (Even though that picture is TECHNICALLY from Pokemon Stadium 2, anyone who played GSC knows who he is. lol)
Thank you! I have thought about this many times. I do not think that Shadow would have focused on anyone but Maria, and he only cares about people that he has made a very serious connection to. I mean, in his theme song he sounded as though he were miserable, and when I listen to 'Supporting Me' and 'For True Story' (fucking amazing lyrics right there) it sounds a lot like Shadow and Gerald's inner feelings, and Gerald quite possibly created Shadow to feel these feelings. You know, to destroy the world and all for revenge. Shadow sounded kind of like the fucked up experiment that was always meant to self-destruct, and he seemed to me like he wanted to end it all and stop the chaotic feelings and endless questions in his head. For heaven's sake, his theme song is even titled 'Throw it All Away', and listen to the lyrics of 'White Jungle'. I really get into the lyrics of those four songs specifically. They are hard to understand without written lyrics, muffled and far away, droned out and sad. I think that really describes that trio, Shadow, Gerald and Maria. Could be me looking too much into it though. That is why I can't see Shadow wanting to live on, or if he did, live on just to fight with Sonic. He saved the world from the destruction that Eggman had unleashed, and then it was time to self-destruct. I'm sure he would much rather be with Maria than with G.U.N. or the main group.
My first encounter with Sonic was actually on television. I saw him carrying this woman named Breezy and had to know what that show was. Started a huge fad. My first Sonic game was Sonic 3 for the Genesis Nomad, loved it. But those Adventure games... Oh man, I was thrilled out of my mind. I don't think another Sonic game is ever going to make me feel like those games made me feel.
Yes, I found that just plain silly. If you are going to make your games more childish, then why the hell add the cursing and the weapons? That is just silly. Makes them look like they are trying too hard.
I really miss the old Eggman. He actually used to be scary and he destroyed cities and towns, even a few times making the whole world a black and bleak world of destruction and robots. I really miss that even asshole. He sent Sonic and the other Freedom Fighters into hiding. Loved it, miss it.
I used to frequent Sonic forums all the time and I have been in my share of flame wars. XD But I don't know, I ended up letting people keep their wrong opinions, they have a right to them, and we are both going to believe what we want to believe so there is no use in flaming them over it. Right? Haha. Everyone knows deep down that we are right about Shadow anyway, if no other character.

(Sorry for the long delay responding back. My messages got piled up!)
Wonderfully said, all of it. I couldn't agree more or said it better myself.
Hmm, I haven't played many Spyro games so I wouldn't know, but I can safely say they've absolutely butchered Crash Bandicoot.
The character in your avatar looks awfully familiar. I just can't put my finger on it. But yes, Pokemon Gold and Crystal were my favorites before I fell out the Pokemon genre for good.
No problem! Those songs really do tell the story of Shadow's life, but I viewed some of them a little differently. "Supporting Me" I saw that as Shadow realizing the error of his ways and wanting to make it right for Maria. I also saw that he wouldn't want to live on since his duty was fulfilled and he would join her soon. "White Jungle" I saw as an internal struggle that Shadow was facing. "Throw it All Away" definitely suits him earlier on in the game, but I think "Supporting Me" proves it wrong later. Considering all that Shadow's been through, I too strongly believe he'd much rather want to be at peace with his only true friend.
I can definitely relate to your feelings. I loved the classic Sonic so much that I bought Sonic Mega Collection. I'm one happy gamer girl. I play SA2B over and over again. Believe it or not, I've yet to even get Sonic Adventure because of money issues. (I'm very poor. XD)
You're absolutely right. They tried too hard or more rather they tried to fix perfection: The worst mistake game developers make. I suppose listening to whining fans is another mistake. After all, it's the Shadow fans' fault they brought him back and butchered him.
Yeah, I know what you mean. They had to make it kiddy which ruined that mature theme it had. A lot of the classics had a mixture of stuff that appealed to everyone, now they just make everything kiddy.
That's the thing, you can flame and argue until you're blue in the face or your fingers fall off and they'll most likely never change the views. (I admit it's rather hilarious once the truth does get revealed and they're bawling over it. It's a rarity, but it has happened.) But yes, they deny the truth about Shadow as long and hard as they can all they want to. We've accepted the truth.

I wholeheartedly agree! Shadow's role now is nothing more than fanservice and a side character. Such a fall from grace. And on top of that, I hardly believe that this current Shadow is actually the real one we know and love in SA2 Battle.
To be honest, the "Shadow" now is just an android clone of the original created by Dr. Eggman. After all, Dr. Eggman still had access to Gerald Robotnik's works and studies, why wouldn't he still use it being the devious mad scientist he is? At the end of Team Dark's story, Rouge clearly says that Shadow is a robot. And yes I know, lots of people argue the endings of the game 'Shadow the Hedgehog', but let's be serious now. That game has multiple endings which can't be considered canon. The players chose the ending they wanted and it had nothing to do with the games afterwards. I don't even consider the 'Shadow the Hedgehog' game to be canon since there's many ways it could go and it's not a conclusive ending.
I'm a staunch believer that the Shadow in SA2 Battle died and is now joyfully with Maria.
(Basically, after Sonic Heroes, I gave up on the Sonic franchise. Not just because of SEGA making Shadow's character a cash cow, but they've ruined many of my favorite characters. Rouge and Knuckles especially. SA2 Battle was the last classic Sonic game in history. Sonic Heroes was okay, but it didn't have the same good feels that Sonic Adventure 2 Battle has.)

Side character? I suppose. But fanservice? Well... I don't know. Also, it is the same Shadow. The Shadow the Hedgehog game (I like it, oh well) clearly proves that as well.

You are aware that the Final Story IS canon, right? Honestly, i would've liked it if after getting all ten endings, you could unlock the "True Story" (which, as the name says, is the story that actually happened).
"I'm a staunch believer that the Shadow in SA2 Battle died and is now joyfully with Maria."
Well... if you say so.Β I still see the same Shadow, however.

Oh... no... no... no... just... NO! Look, I can understand Sonic Adventure 2 being considered "one of the best Sonic games" or whatever, but last good SONIC game?! I... I don't get that. And I never will. I don't understand what is it that makes this fanbase nearly bite heads off of Sonic Heroes, Unelashed, etc. Also... I really don't see how Sonic Team (they make the games, not SEGA) "ruined" many of your favorite characters. There's no hard feelings from me either. Though you sound rather surprised that someone has different views than yours. You love everything Sonic related, right? That's no problem whatsoever, just understand that not everyone will feel the same as you. (That's also another problem I find with the Sonic fanbase and many others.)
Another thing to remember: not everyone in the Sonic fanbase is the same age. Some grew up with the original Sonic (think 1980s and 1990s) and they notice the changes more than the younger generations do.
For one, I never said I despised Sonic Heroes, I said it was okay. I liked it, but did not love it. I've played Sonic Battle and enjoyed that game that as well. Other than that exception, I've had it with the Sonic franchise. Regarding the Shadow the Hedgehog game, if they wanted the True Story to be canon, they should've had the game's plot lead up to that in the first place. What was the point of all those other pathways and endings if the True Story was the right one in the end? See what I mean by 'fan service'?
*If you've played the earlier Sonic games (the 80s-90s Sonic cartoons and comics, SEGA Genesis and Dreamcast era), you'll notice that Knuckles is very mature and collected. He doesn't fly off the handle at every little thing and get beat up all the time like he does now. He's little more than a goofy comic relief character now.
*Shadow became wildly popular after his debut in SA2B and fans demanded he be brought back as he appeared in Heroes. So to appease the Shadow fans further, they even made a game solely for him (fan service).....and butchered his character as a result. At the end of SA2B, Shadow had been undergoing some character development. He was close to becoming friends with Sonic in fact. He was realizing that he wasn't entirely alone. After SEGA brought him back (due to the demands of the fans), all of that development is dead. His love for Maria, his budding friendship with Sonic and crew = gone. He's a shadow of his former self which leads me to believe he's not the real one.
*Regarding Rouge, I feel she was best in SA2B and Heroes. It seems like she's overly flirty now. No not a huge change, but definitely more flirty than before.
Sorry that my views don't align with yours, but that's how I feel about the Sonic characters and franchise now.

Well... I don't really love everything Sonic related. I happen to not like AoStH. But wait... that's your problem with the fanbase?Β
Well yeah I knew that, but it's still no excuse for others to use little to no good reasons to dislike the games (not to mention how they nearly ALWAYS use nostalgia such as "blegh, the classics were better since they didn't have Sonic's annoying friends and there was more 2D and no 3D"). You have to admit that it is absolutely unbelievable that Sonic Unleashed got a stinking 4.5/10 (which is lower than Sonic 06's) just because of ONE MECHANIC... which really... is not even close to being as bad as people make it out to be. It's mind-boggling how the majority of the games haven't been received well just because of things like "IT"S NOT LIKE MY CHILDHOOD" or "OH NO IT'S THE GREEN-EYED SONIC AND HIS ANNOYING FRIENDS!" or even because it's not like Sonic Adventure 2. Seriously, I can tell that game (along with SA1 and the classics) has its flaws and yet... they get a free pass (though I do like those games). If I seem to think differently about the series compared to most people, that would be because I happen to be a fifteen-year-old Sonic fan who happens to enjoy games such as Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes (and grew up with them).
Well... my guess is that it's just to see what would occur depending on your choices. Besides, at least you unlock some new weapons and get to see what happens for being evil, good, or neutral. I love how Sonic Team decided to try out this rare concept. Sure, it could have been much better, but I think it's ok.Β
Well, for starters, Sonic made his first debut in 1991. I'm kind of surprised that you didn't know. But... again... I still see the same Knuckles. It's most likely because the goofy Knuckles you're talking about is the first one I got used to. I can't really blame you for preferring how Knuckles used to be in the classics, Adventure games, and Heroes. Well, I guess the reason I don't mind it right now is because you actually stated it calmly and respectfully (unlike most of the "fans" who automatically give up on the franchise or do other acts of stupidity just for that sole reason) Β . Believe me, If I were one of the writers of the Sonic series, I would do my best to bring back that Knuckles.
He's still the same Shadow. He may be a little different, but keep in mind that he had amnesia since Heroes. I'm sure he's still Sonic's friend, just not as much as the other characters. I think that what makes Shadow unique is that I can usually take him seriously and isn't always all happy like some of the other characters (not that it's a bad thing, however). His relationship with Maria is still there. It kind of played a good role in Shadow the Hedgehog and ESPECIALLY in SA2. It's not mentioned as often anymore because he put the past behind him near the end of Shadow the Hedgehog (or in the end, I don't quite remember).
Well I can't say I disagree if that's what you think about Rouge.
I really do apologize if I sounded kind of mean in that last comment.Β Β I'm just tired of other people saying that Sonic Adventure 2 is the last good Sonic game. Honestly, I think there started being a small downfall in the series since Sonic Colors. Like... the games started lacking. Not to mention, Sonic's character has been nearly butchered. But even then, I'm still enjoying the games.Β

Well, that cartoon is rather campy, but it's a classic for many people who grew up with it.
Here's the exact problem I see: I noticed that in many fanbases including the Sonic fanbase, sometimes fans are shocked that others view characters and games differently than they do. They seem to assume that "Everyone loves __________ like I do." Though I suspect that has largely to do with the varying ages of the fanbase.
Yes, it is true that some fans over exaggerate the game mechanics.
However, you can't fault people for having different preferences. If they prefer the classics, what harm does it really do? Let them eat cake so to speak. I don't agree with them bashing every single new Sonic game like that though. Personally, I've never played Unleashed, '06, Rush, Riders, etc so I can't fairly bash a game I've never played. I'll watch walktroughs and game cutscenes to get a vibe from the games. If I like it, I'll try it. If not, I'll pass. I tried Shadow's game shortly after Heroes and didn't like it, but played Sonic Battle and loved it. I officially quit following Sonic games after Heroes, but enjoyed a little fun from Sonic Battle. (Sonic Advance 1 was pretty neat as well.) Other than that, I haven't paid much attention to the Sonic franchise.
I do agree that the concept of Shadow's game was unique, I just don't see the point if the other pathways weren't the correct ones. People will also become biased to the pathways that they like. A game with multiple endings doesn't fit in a series that has so many games with conclusive endings. SEGA should've kept Shadow dead in the first place is how I look at it. They only brought him back because he was a cash cow due to fan demands and butchered his character as a result.
I did give a guesstimate of 1980s-1990s. I wasn't that off the mark. XDΒ But now I know the official year regardless.
Aha, see there? You grew up with the more modern Sonic. I grew up with the Sonic of the 90s. The thing is, the stuff you grew up with will always be the best to those who love it.
But yes, I do know of how rabid fans can get regarding topics they feel strongly about. I can't stand that type of behavior. Yep, bringing back that Knuckles would be nice. Not likely to happen, but it's a nice thought.
He's.....just not the same Shadow to me. I feel he had the most personality in SA2B, now he's an emo anti-hero that doesn't like much of anything. Also, at the end of Team Dark's story in Heroes, Rouge says he's a robot. A robot clone of him wouldn't remember everything that the original did and would be more willing to put his 'past' behind him. Like I mentioned before, people argue the various endings from Shadow's game and "Eggman said that his robots saved him!" First off, Eggman is a pathological liar. How can you trust anything that he says is actually true? (Save for when he wants to conquer the world.) And knowing Eggman, he's bound to have created several clones of the Ultimate Life Form. From all I've seen of Shadow in the newer games, he doesn't see Sonic as a friend. That inkling was much more pronounced in SA2B than in any other game. It's such a drastic difference from SA2B Shadow that I'm very skeptical that this current Shadow is even the real one.
I still like Rouge, I just think they made her a little too flirty now.
Don't worry about it. I've seen worse than this. But I can understand your frustration though. My best advice for when you come across comments you're sick of seeing, just ignore them. You can't stop people from forming opinions, so it's best to just move on.
That's interesting. What was it about the games after Colors that you considered to be lacking?
I tried Sonic Colors a few years ago because my little cousin wanted me to beat a level for him (the one where you had to use the Drill Wisp). It was pretty fun using the Wisps as an added feature, but it just confirmed how I felt all along about the changes in the characters. Though I wonder how many kids are growing up with Sonic Colors and the games after it? Don't you think that they'd defend their childhood gold? So the cycle continues......

I love Shadow, and I've loved him for a long time, but somehow I'm just now realizing he would've been better off dead. It would have been so bitter sweet!! There'd be a hell of a lot more fanwork (if you can believe it) about him though. Also, Shadow the Hedgehog merchandise would be extremely expensive and hard to come by like all those Sonic the Fighters plushies.
It would have been better though~ A lot better.

I agree with this way too much, and I love Shadow the Hedgehog. (I still love all his games that he came out in. I'm not picky. Except Sonic Free Riders, that messed up Shadow's character really bad. Why would SEGA do that anyway? That made me thing "Shadow saved the world so he could get money later? MONEY?!" and him being related to an evil devil alien race ruined his character story even more...) Β Though Shadow's death in SA2B was both a true impact on the SEGA series as well as the fans. His return in Sonic Heroes/Shadow the Hedgehog etc has messed up the view of most fans. Β Even with the games recently made (Which I'm hoping Sonic Boom makes a better out look on Shadow) this won't change my view and opinion of Shadow the Hedgehog. Β But I do agree with this. Β You'll always be the best hedgie Shadow <3 even when SEGA messes up your story

What am I gonna say..
I agreed, even I'm a fan of Shadow. And had a feeling about... after SA2, the games that had Shadow in it as a character that have a deal with main plot, is somewhat a fanservice of him for his obsessed fanboys/girls (game eg. Shadow the Hedgehog), worth it :L
I am so sorry for my poorly English but this stamp goin' to be in my front page, bless you Dan.

OMG!That's the thing that I didn't though...
What will look game if Shadow is not here cause he is dead...This will be difference....
In other thought,I have to says that players, fans and whatever doesn't understand the message that SEGA wanted (IDK cause I can't read the message)
The message that SEGA wanted is:
"Desipe to have a bad side,he show a good heart about the humanity and that's why he sacrified his life for holding his hearth and do the thing in the future"
The reason that the fanbase is made is supporting Shadow for his "death",concept, design, popularity, love butΒ NOT the message given by the game...and they miss him too much...
Because of that,SEGA is forced to bring him back(yep, people controled by people...and that's how the timeline, caractere and other thing changed and is really different than SEGA wanted...)
We know all a people/caractere's death is tragedy...They will miss a lot of stuff in the future...But they are immortal, since we have they heart and we are able to keep him since we are alive
So people, don't sacrifice yourself...Show us how good you are and be happy in your life,we love you and we will remenber you even if you are not here...
And of course...last thing...the worst that I hate...MONEY...The thing that everyone get attired and wanted to get them since is life's source...Eugh...Will not talk about this...
Shadow the hedgehog was my favorite caractere cause of his "death" when i was little,i didn't have the game but I did watch a Sonic X episode on this. Then,I like drawing him and says a lot "Shadow" instead of the name.I now realise that he is in my heart now and i will keep him forever...And his sacrifice was god action, for showing his GENEREOUS SIDE...
That's why...
THANK SHADOW,YOU ARE A HERO FOR US AND YOU INSPIRE US A LOT!

I don't mind that he came back, but they should have handled it better. Honestly, when I saw him in Sonic Heroes, I was excited to see where they were going...but they didn't really go anywhere. Then, rather than just focus on the problem at hand (explaining why he was back), Shadow the Hedgehog was about self-discovery and swearing and guns. It would have been better if he'd found out who he was and how he lived at the end of Sonic Heroes, then was able to move on and not mope around.

I agree, and infact I think I can easlily come up with a storyline for Sonic Heroes and future games without Shadow, let me try:
Metal Sonic takes his role in Team Dark, and overtime he becomes Neo Metal Sonic and turns on his team and everyone else, basically being a reverse Shadow in going from "Good" (kind of) to Evil, or possibly he was really playing everyone for fools the entire time and pretending to be a hero.
And then Shadow just continues to reappear through the muliti-players rather than the plot, to give his fans him being in the games. Β Metal Sonic can take his role in the plots that require Team Dark, having been reprogrammed entirely and working for G.U.N, basically taking Shadow's roles he has now, except skipping over "Shadow the Hedgehog" because in this storyline that game can't really exist.
Basically, I agree, and while I'm not THAT big in the Sonic Fandom (and I at times FEAR to be deeper in it), it is a childhood game series, though I kinda stop at SA2 really. Though the most recent games show signs of being better. But yeah, my point is that I think he should have stayed dead too. I would say he could have at least be an android too, but the storyline I offered above would kinda make that pointless, for obvious reasons.

I agree. Shadow should've stayed dead after Sonic Adventure 2. His death was what made him such a great character, but thanks to his popularity SEGA brought him back. That completely ruined the purpose of his death. Now he's just making pointless appearances in later games.Β
If SEGA didn't make Shadow die, I'd have no problem with him appearing in later games. Also, they wouldn't have to come up with dumb reasons for putting him in the story part of games like Free Riders. Money? God, what were they thinking?! They're ruining his character! Sonic Adventure 2 was all we needed to know about Shadow's backstory. There was no need for ShTH(Shadow the Hadgehog). That game's plot sounded like bad fanfiction. Shadow being related to an alien race? WHAT THE HELL WERE SEGA THINKING!!!
I've lost all respect for Shadow after SA2. It's like his death meant nothing to those Shadow fantards. XP
