Without Homecoming and Downpour I would never have bought and played the old Silent Hill games.

So far are my fav SH games: SH1, SH3, Shattered Memories and Homecoming.
why I do not mention SH2 because everyone says "it's the best" or "all other SH games after this are crap." And comments like this destroy a game for me. But the worst SH is for me still SH4.

nothing to say about SH 1 and 2. they are my favorite too...
SH2 is a bloody great game, but it's a diversion from SH1 and what they did in SH3. while it's not bad, the ignorance of the people on what silent hill is about make SH2 easier at first sight...
I do not have nothing personal about Shattered Memories, still the game had little to do with SH and while had some good ideas, it's also responsible for various problem with later games...
Silent Hill Homecoming, while I do not like it, I can say that at least it TRIED (tried to look like the movie, that is, but at least it was something far far related to what is the true story of silent hill).
as game is bad, with mostly bad graphics (nice shadows though, surprisingly, probably some hints from DooM3?) and the design was midway an imitation of SH monster and try to look like GoW...
the gameplay is horrible, as make a better combat system does not equal attempting an action game one, and the horrible lore mistakes and "SH cliche"...
Silent Hill 4 is a japanese surreal horror barely related to Silent Hill, fitting, as it started as a Horror game based around investigation (the First person session are a part of that) and probably interrogation in a surreal dream like world... not silent hill... but konami, well, did not cared...about one of their best selling games....

Well, for me is a Silent Hill, a main character with a suppressed guilt and monsters that reflect it. Just that classic "Face your Demons" thing.
And i think the silent Hill movie is the best Horrormovie based on the game. becuase the Silent Hill Movie shows how the Game is.

no. I am sorry, but that is not what silent hill is about. it's a lie that came with the non-comprehension of silent hill 2 and unfortunately got foot as the "explanation" of silent hill...
this lie is so common that made the Silent Hill Wikia filled of BS and gross mistake...
silent hill is about a cult that willed to bring God-Samael-messiah into the world. this plan is not successful because of Alessa and her psychic powers, that interrupt the painful "impregnation" ritual.
this made the coming of the god not complete, but his powers (or his aura) are still around that area. his Angels take shape of traits of the more tormented souls around only, thus why James had to fight things shaped after his subconscious...
it's not "that classic face your demons" the contrary. it's a cosmic horror story about a cult and their God, not dissimilar to Lovecraft stories. stories filled with psychological drama and nihilistic definitions.
they are not demons and they are not "yours".
the movie, while it's not BAD as many others, still gone for his simple story. Alessa became a christian version of a japanese ghost (wrong as Alessa always was a good person...especially her tulpa) and the cult became Swedish inqusition...
