Description The G.R.V.-12 Knightmare is the first model out of twelve in the Galactic Rangers series. As you can see it a mobile suit mech that has quite a few features. First, let me talk about the design process a bit. After designing my very first mech: the T.A.V.-81 GOLEM, I wanted to take what I learned and put it towards a new mech with a completely different sense of style. While the T.A.V.-81 GOLEM focused on heavy fire power and long range based attacks, the G.R.V.-12 Knightmare was designed as a close range, heavy melee fighter, that could withstand large amounts of punishment. Now for weapons, the Knightmare comes equipped with a large tower shield, and an armor piercing sword. The shield was really tricky to make because I went through about 15 other designs before settling on the one you see now. I wanted to make sure it had both the cool/intimidating factor, with a small touch of elegance and beauty. As for the sword, I wanted it to be simplistic and a little modern. I tried many sword designs, but this one just felt right from the first time I put it on. ^^ Next lets talk about the armor. Theres a little code all lego builders follow, which is whenever you build something you should try to not leave any studs exposed because it looks unfinished. Well thats exactly what I did just here. There isn't a single stud exposed on it's body what so ever, giving it a full on smooth and professionally finished look. Designing the armor was super fun though because while there is a lot of detail shown, I added a feature where the armo on the joints could be easily swaped out for different components, say for example a weapon or a different armor piece. That's up to you and your imagination. The last feature I'd like to mention is the wings. I can't even begin to count how many times I worked on the wings design, but the design you see works out the best for multiple reasons. First, they are able to rotate quite a lot due to being on ball joints, so poseability is very good. The green feathers can also be controlled seeing they are on a swivle and can also click into place. I also incorpoated the same feature I used in the armor by allowing the wing component to pop off easily when desired, or for going into land mode. I could probably go on some more, but I'm starting to feel like a broken record over here. Tell me what you guys think, Like it? Hate it? Tell me why in the comments below.

I did see the newer mechs, but this one still stands out.

Well out of all the ones I've made, this one is still my favorite. I mean heck, I've made three different versions of it already!

I clicked the link you gave me ^^
Nice mech man, I like the anime/japanese air it has about it with the clear aerial focus here and the neat design.
The only thing I would change is the cockpit. It kinda looks oddly placed just stuckΒ on top. Personally I think it'd look better slanted downwards at an angle but other than that nice mech

Actually it's funny you should mention the cockpit. I hve some spare cocklpit covers but the only ones I have are the bubble type you saw, and the elongated ones for jets. The thing though is that I needed a small one, and I wasn't gonna shell out money for a starwars set cover. If I did have my choice of any cover though, I'd still keep the one I got cause this is a sci-fi theme, and a little funkyness always looks good here and there.

I just took a look at it, and I like what I see. It certainly looks like it's a lot lighter which was one of my gripes about it. Overall it's great looking. The only thing I would suggest is add some tiny translucent detailing parts in order to make it pop.

I don't know if there is a lego store in your area or not, but a few months ago I visited the one in chicago, and I made out like a bandit on the pick a brick wall. I had to have had an easy 150 bucks worth of legos, but I only had to pay 35 bucks because they have a policy in store which is if it fits in the container its good.

Oh god I know that feeling oh too well. I actually start back next monday, but on the bright side i have quite a few models ready to be published when I want to, so I won't be distracted too much during school. ^^
