Glenfinnan viaduct with the Jacobite steam train.Harry Potter fans will recognise this as the Howarts express and the Glenfinnan viaduct from the movie.
For some sense of scale, there are 4 people in the shot who were also waiting for the train

I've been wanting this shot for a while now, will get my arse up there at some point! very nice rendition mate, good compo... have to ask, was this the afternoon train? I understand it crosses twice a day, and I've seen photos from both sides, with the train coming towards the camera.. just trying to figure it out...

Yeah man, we actually planned to go on the train, but didn't realise it only went up north then back down south once a day.
We missed the morning train by an hour or so, so looked at the timetable and headed for the viaduct. This is coming back south in the afternoon. Next time I go Scotland I want to actually go on the train, and then maybe the day after, go to the other side of the viaduct for photos of it coming the other way, so the engines facing the right way. The side this was taken from though, is a little better for getting photos of the valley with the train in. MOre to come anyway right now...Cheers

Well, four people waiting for the train to come to take this picture led me to the association of Shakespeare's saying that our world is like a stage. We all play our parts in it, and we all have forgotten that we merely play a part. None of it is real.
That is key idea for me.
