… although they turned out translucent in the render. A present for my friend, often depicted as a Macross Valkyrie pilot. She’s also a real-life drummer, so her character is shown here in a band (which was earlier depicted here)
playing in a club on or near the air base. She is cheered on or eyed curiously by various squadmates and base personnel.
Begun 2 years earlier and aborted, just recently revamped and completed.

They are an incredibly tame audience for that type of band. Are they in Japan? From what I've heard, this would be accurate for Japan. I love the light and composition. It does look like a concert photo. The hair came out especially well. I think the drums are kind of awesome.

Ha, they are an eclectic trio (as the backstory goes) and would probably provoke a mixed reaction like that. The photo reference I used had an audience that was similarly sedate but with some grinning onlookers. It was an interesting challenge to compose, and I couldn't have done it without the photo ref. And I wish that anisotropic specularity on hair would render like that in Poser. Transparent drums are cool. My friend said she's always wanted a set like that, and rarely sees any kind of clear drums in use.
