Description
Let me preface something before I go with the rest of the description, but… I want to make one thing clear: I am by no means trying to spit on the work, idea and effort behind the original Pokemon creature designer(s) by doing this pic; I am by no means trying to stroke my ego and prove anything or to say that my design is better than the original — THIS IS JUST A THING I’M DOING FOR FUN and it’ll be on your own morals and judgement if you (if you’re someone who isn’t the aforementioned designer/designers or professionally related to them) take offense to this.

Honestly, I’ve… never been a fan of the design of the original Mr. Mime (from Pokémon). Not that I feel it’s offensive or anything, but I’ve always felt Mr Mime to be very uncanny in appearance. And it’s an even stranger feeling to me when Mime Jr, Mr Mime’s pre-evolution, was introduced — since Mime Jr was not uncanny at all and instead was just straight-up cute and pleasing to look at.

So… one day, whilst mulling over the original design of Mr. Mime… I threw a suggestion to myself: “Hey, why not try and make your own design of Mr Mime? A design that maintains some aspects of Mr Mime but also feels more like a proper step-up from Mime Jr that maintains the pre-evolution’s adorable factor?”

And thus… with that self-imposed challenge in mind, I came up… with this lil guy! And I think he looks neat. Maybe not super Pokemon-like, but hey— I’ll take looking at this guy more often than the original Mr Mime. xD

And yes, I’ll it this disclaimer again: I know it’s the peak of hubris to essentially say someone else’s design is bad and to essentially make a drawing with that judgment in mind. But… once again, I did this pic for fun. So please don’t take it too seriously. Just enjoy it, okay? Okay? Good. :3
