Anderson is a man who originally had affection and sympathy. And, a bottomless suffering and sadness are kept secret in the mind.
I cried over his death because I saw his real face and gentleness at the last minutes.
Because I had seen AnimeHellsing first, I did not like Anderson. I hated Seras.
I came to love them because I read Manga.
I came to read Manga(Hellsing) for 3 or 4 years. It came to read Hellsing with the magazine last year.

I'm afraid to read the manga where he dies for the same reason of crying. Even when I think about it...it makes me sad. I guess that's what happens when you get attached to a character. I read the manga first..and just hated Anderson, like I said before...I didnt like Seras either...she was too...I dont know, but after a while, characters that you start off hating really grow on you.

I hate the Anderson of the anime a thin character description.
Many of fans in Japan dislike Anderson of the anime.
I was interested in Anderson's complex character reading the Manga.
His character made me puzzled, and enchanted me at the same time.
Gentleness to child, Nature as educator, Abhorrence and cruelty to vampire... whom he shows...
( the last though it is understood that bright he had the benevolence for the vampire )
Why did he become such a person, my imagination is stirred up.

He was barely in the anime..I know. He's a large part of the Manga...
His character in the manga is amazing I agree and to just use him almost as a filler in the original tv series upsets me.

I just read his death and up...and you're right. I mean, I know you said his gentleness was shown..but I never expected him to be that gentle. Even Alucard was sad...and Anders made him smile 
This is why I love Hellsing..it's deep and there are no shallow characters...except the canon fodder
