Aww this coloring isn't too hard. The shading is a couPle layers of black and white. The colorful belly scales was just some fiddling in Photoshop.

I can totally see the colors on his tail and underbelly shimmering like they'd be iridescent or something, except... dull...

Yes. that would awesome. And prey would be so mesmerized they wouldn't know the colors belonged to a head with lots of sharp teeth.
