Description
For a while now (=flutterguy317 ) has been working on a version of Inkscape (the open source software I use for all my pony pictures) that contains lots of really helpful extra features for pony vector artists. As it is experimental software, and I work on Mac and he doesn't, I've not been able to use it up until now because I've not been able to get it to compile properly. But with his help I've managed it!So as a thank you, here's his OC in the style of his old Evilshy avatar.
Made in Ponyscape , freehand untraced vector.

Ponyscape is a derivative of Inkscape containing some upstream features from Inkscape and some of =flutterguy317 's own developments (including advanced clipping methods, a redesigned swatch system and several other handy things).
You can find more info here

I've heard of ponyscape, would you recommend it? I too work on Mac, however.

Yes I would. I've only used a few features but there are some massive benefits (both from upstream Inkscape and Flutterguy's own tweaks) that I'm sure you'd find very useful.
There is a small chance that my compiled version would work on your machine (I'm running 10.7.5 on a 2010 MacBook Pro, my version will probably work on a very similar machine). If not you'd have to compile it yourself. This is reasonably simple, but getting the correct software together is a bit time consuming. You have to work in Terminal with some text based commands too (nothing too difficult otherwise I'd never have managed it!). When it's compiled you need to launch it through Terminal too as the .app packaging doesn't work properly as yet (again, only a minor inconvenience)
If you are interested in installing it and would like my help, or would like to try running my version (or Flutterguy's, I think he must've compiled on 10.8) then by all means ask.

I would absolutely love to give it a shot! (Especially if you already have the whole thing compiled). XD

Here you go I have no idea if it will work properly or do what it is supposed to do! It may crash, use at your own risk etc. etc. My build [link] (should run on 10.7.5). =flutterguy317 's build (should run on 10.8) [link]
I'm going to assume you're not familiar with command line stuff (obviously ignore me if you are ). Save the ZIP file to your 'home' directory (this makes for less typing) and extract it. There will be a folder called build. Open terminal from applications/utilities. Type the following (hit enter after each line):
cd build/bin
./inkscape
This should launch the program. Good luck! Let me know if it works.

Are you on OSX Lion? It would appear that I am 10.6.8. (I haven't upgraded to Lion yet.)

Yes I am. I guess it didn't work then...
Compiling it is relatively simple, but labour intensive (you've got to install various bits and pieces). [link] Most of what you need is in that Wiki article (up to step three of the 'for the impatient' section). Then there are some alterations that you need to make: Download the source code [link] , save it to your home directory. Then do what is described here [link] . Then type the following in Terminal (assuming that you have the unpacked sourcecode in a folder called inkscape in your home directory).
cd inkscape/packaging/macosx/
./osx-build.sh a c b i -s p
This will hopefully run through to an error that says .app creation failed or similar, you should then be able to open the program in the way I described before.
Just ask if you need anything else

Hmmmmm, thanks for the info! I think I'll just stick to Inkscape until an official version is released for Mac, though. XD

I think that's unlikely anytime soon. The Inkscape updates are being delayed cause of problems with packaging the .app so Ponyscape will be further behind that. If I get anywhere with it though, you'll be first to know

Ponyscape v0.3 was recently released for Mac as well as Windows!
And I would recommend it highly

You should be able to run the Linux version using the X11 environment. You'll find X11 in your utilities, otherwise you can find its installer on your install disc.

Nevermind. I tried it myself and I couldn't find a way to extract the .deb file.

Yeah, there are issues with compiling upstream Inkscape on Mac... I'm only just learning about software compilation but if I find out anything useful on my own I'll be sure to pass it on to you guys

Yep (but only cause Flutterguy came up with a workaround for the problem I was having!)
I've only used the powerstrokes so far, still have to explore the full potential

I still need to explore all it's possibilities...
I've had a look at your SVG, I wrote a message yesterday evening but then dA glitched and I lost it, I was feeling too lazy to retype it so I'll have another try this evening.

No rush
I've been getting some of that from DA myself. You gonna have to remember to save each 5 min until they get their act together.
And thank you. You've been very kind to me ^^
