Ah... one of my favorite Pokémon preparing a powerful fireball.More practice with cell shade!
Time: 3-4 hours of lazy work.
Tools: Paint Tool SAI.

Tbh... I never liked Emboar when I played B/W. (Shame on me.)
I had a really mixed opinion of it. I liked Tepig, but somehow, Pignite and Emboar looked like Spectrobes to me; Emboar in particular.
They still do, tho. But they didn't feel like Pokémon for me back then.
BUT! Since I've seen SO MUCH lovely art of them, I started to really like 'em. This one is no exception.

I too thought that Pignite and Emboar didn't really looked like real Pokémon the first time, welp, for me most Pokémon from the 5th gen seemed too out of place, like they were so detailed. But I really liked the fire starter family when I got to train them (in the six gen, tho).

Yeah, that's true. I had a hard time to come along with alot of the 5th gen Pokémon (and when I played X/Y, it was even worse), but that's probably because Gamefreak wanted to design Pokémon completely independant and different from the earlier generations. While I disliked A LOT of Pokémon in B/W (since they were, like you said, REALLY different), I instantly fell in love with e.g. Serperior, Liepard or Whimsicott. And a lot more until today.
... Hah, that makes me almost curious and scared at the same time to think about an 7th gen... And one day, that'll come for sure. |D
