One might classify Donovan as a “typical lawyer” in the way he acts, at least on a first impression: he’s vain, outspoken, eloquent and sounds confident to the point of arrogance. While he’s always using ten times more words than it’s needed, being sly and cunning doesn’t stop him from being a total loser - as soon as things fall out of his comfort zone and away from his control, he’ll get exponentially more emotional, and express it accordingly.

HISTORY

Despite Don’s looks (or perhaps because of), he comes from a modest family of merchants, and spent most of his early years delving in books... until the prospect of an arranged marriage between families came up. Intimidated, he chose to jump at an opportunity to go to college at Solis. There, he focused on legal studies and academic writing. While he was no natural at it, the hours he put in showed results.

His job and life came with consequences, however, especially after the Surge, when new laws and jurisdictions had to be incorporated for magical transgressions. Don was tired, lonely, and felt that his efforts were aimless… at least until he was approached by an elf named Angela, requesting his law services. He was love-struck quickly, and most of his time from that point onward was dedicated to Angela’s affairs, an attempt to gain her affections.

One day, a negotiation with a questionable trader group went wrong, and Don was taken as a hostage/prisoner to keep his mouth shut. Away from the city for the first time since he moved there, something inside him snapped: his feelings for Angela were suddenly gone. He made the connection to the drinks Angela would offer him occasionally, and found out they are charming potions. The traders were stopped by an adventurer group, and Don was now more lost than ever - and what’s worse, he couldn’t go back to Solis. He knew the charming effect had done a number to his willpower. If he saw her again...

He currently travels different regions in the hopes of finding any item or magical artifact that could make him completely impervious to magic. Not by himself, of course.

RELATIONSHIP

Werner and Chester were part of the adventurer group that saved Don’s life. They took separate ways after the event, as Don was too distressed to accept any help, but after making up his mind and realizing he can’t travel around and (gods forbid) enter dungeons on his own, he made a deal with Werner and Chester for the use of their “services”: protection. They’ve traveled for a while together, with the trio separating every now and then whenever they’re needed at different places. Werner’s patience makes the paladin impervious to Don’s emotional trickery, but Chester is an easy target and the two are constantly bickering.
