Description It's Quality time for Yog-Sothoth, his mortal consort Lavinia Whateley and toddler Wilbur (twin brother, you say? What twin??). The Key and The Gate is teaching lil' Wilbur to write in Aklo with some sand and a couple of twigs...

This is... the very first Yog-Sothoth I've drawn, as well as the first baby!Wilbur. How time flies...

I always was very fond of Lavinia.
She's one of the few truly tragic characters of Lovecraft's.

I felt so sorry for her, poor woman.

Yes, as much as like Wilbur, he really crossed the line with the implied murder of Lavinia. Poor woman. Nobody deserves a family that messed up.

Yes, I always wished a happy end for her at least, but then again Lovecraft doesn't go for happy endings.

I love this. Especially how you depicted Yog-Sothoth- he looks like a co-existence of different beasts, residing in a swaddling of fabric that seems to be... layers of dimensions. As if he was in many dimensions at once, and he wore them as a cloth so to be able to reside within them without bursting them open.

A four-dimensional being...~

Thank you!~ I've had this image stuck in my head for the last couple of days, and I finally got around to drawing and scanning this during my long, boring nightshift.

I tried to make Yog-Sothoth look like a combo between his sons' appearances and the "fabulous glowing conglomeration of spheres" (or however Mr Lovecraft described him). Also, I added the humanoid mouth and hands to represent is willingness to communicate with humans, while being unable to truly understand them.

I have to work on a sketch of Yog-Sothoth these days - I've got several ideas for his cloak and overall appearance.
