Description "Beyond the Fields of Asphodel,
where the souls wander in sorrow,
beyond the Acheron waters,
there I will wait for your return.

I walk away around shadows,
listening moans of pain and despair,
but the voices of thousand ghouls
will not ease your memory in my head.

And now that leaves fall around Earth,
a golden carpet will lead you to me.
And with the cold wind of the winter,
six pomegranate seeds do their duty.

Here, deep in the Underworld
you will find our ebony throne,
and your voice of promises and whishes
will bring life to the eternal dreamers."

My own version of Hades & Persephone. In the picture I portrayed they both, with Cerberus. At the left we can see Charon in his boat and the river Acheron, and in the other side the river Phlegethon, made of fire.

There's a step by step of this one here: [link]

Done in Photoshop.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful depictions of Hades and Persephone I have ever seen! You have true talent Thank you for sharing this amazing piece with us!

Oooooooohhh..... Maybe it's 'cause I love mythology, but i love this one to bits!

I especially like how you portrayed Hades as a kinda cute young guy, instead of how he's normally portrayed - middle-aged, tall, dark and scary with long hair, sallow skin and a gothic fashion sense, or thin, grim, creepy and with skeletons everywhere. The nasty eye shadows that always seem to be there make him seem half-dead too, although I think that's the point, what with all that God of the Underworld crap. Then there was once I saw this one where he got portrayed as really buff, in his fifties with a long hairy beard and a sinister face. Everyone seems bent on making him seem evil, which if you ask me is just unfair.

But your version just makes him seem more like a guy in love. His face seems soft and human in a cold sad way when he looks at Persephone - more real.

You seem to have that effect on all the people in your pieces.

Oh, and Persephone's expression is well, interesting. Usually she's portrayed as sad and resigned, in some cases anguished and full of angst, and once a while happy, but here she just looks stonily defiant. Like, "let's just get this over with".

And the grass growing beneath her bare foot? That's just sweet.

Lastly, the three heads of Cerberus are awesome. It's like they have different personalities.

Ooooooh, you are soooo going into my watch DDDD

Thanks so much
I'm glad to read your message. I think the same, Hades and Persephone characters are depicted always the same ways, like he's an evil being and she's a poor little victim. I read a lot of greek mithology, and found several versions of this myth with a different approach. Hades was never an evil being, he was very fair indeed. And in a lot of references I read that they both have a good relationship .

I suppose it depends on the author. Some authors like to portray Hades as evil and scary and even slightly pedophilic, but I remember one where he was just really lonely and wanted a companion, and it was really sweet. That one actually had Persephone learning to love him in return, but I don't know how accurate that is. And I dunno about your references, I mean I'm just into mythology for fun, but just as I have seen many books claiming their relationship was good, I've read just as many claiming Persephone hated Hades >.<

I read lots of mythology too, usually Greek, but recently I'm more into Egyptian, because of a school project. It's amazing how much you can find out about a culture based on their mythology.

Like how the Greeks seem to love dramatic, sometimes scandalous affairs... My Lit teacher said they were the inventors of stage tragedy -.-"

I must say that is one freakin' HOT Hades. xD The details on their clothes are awesome and it's a neat idea to have Cerberus as a smaller creature as opposed to the huge 3 headed thing most people think of. I like it. :3

wow. Everything is spot on, especially Persephone. Hades looks a bit too normal and handsome in my opinion, but oh well. Everyone has their own idea of things. Wonderful, wonderful art!

A lovely work! And great to see Cerberus too!I always have this funny pic in my mind of Persephone returning down under on the fall equinox and have to do her best scraching behind three pair of ears at at time and stand the lick of tree tounges while that beast is overjoyed at seeing mama again

I love your image--It's amazing with all of its details and realistic features laced with Greek mythology.

I have a question: did you permit an online RPG game site to use your image for advertisement?
Screen Shot Here

I saw this and thought about why it looked so familiar, and then realized that this was the Persephone from your piece. If you did grant them permission, then lucky them; if not, then here's a heads up on how people could be using your hard work without properly giving you the credit you deserve.

I hope that you did give these people permission and I'm just being paranoid--no one should have to deal with art thieves. And I also hope have a good day. And please continue making fabulous art.

Thanks a lot .
I'm afraid I'm a little late on answering this message ^^.
Thanks for letting me know about that use of my work. The true is I didn't gave permission to them. A lot of people told me about this and I have been trying to contact the game to stop the use of my work. I didn't receive any answer, of course, but it seems that they stopped using it... at least that I know. Thanks again

The both of them are beautiful. She's painfully beautiful, actually... I love her innocent expression. I also like that your Hades isn't the long-haired gothy type that you see so many times in other folk's portrayals. No wonder he stole her away, and no wonder she ate the pomegranate seeds. Fantastic version.
