A farmer owned a donkey and a goat. The donkey had to work hard and carry a lot of loads. As a reward for this and to keep him strong and healthy, he got the best food from the farmer.

The goat, however, who was not expected to perform particularly well, was given what was left to eat. This annoyed her and she looked at the donkey full of envy and jealousy.

She hypocritically pretended to feel sorry for him and said to him, “You are poor because you have to work so hard.

If I may give you some advice, the next time you go to work, I recommend stepping into a hole and pretending you've seriously injured yourself.

Then the farmer will stop burdening you for a while and instead nurture and nurture you."

The donkey found this suggestion extremely tempting and when he was on his way with the farmer a little later, fully laden again, he pretended to stumble and fell into a hole.

He was badly injured in the process. The farmer was now very worried about losing his only work animal and immediately had a vet called. He examined the donkey and said to the farmer:

“If you want to make your donkey healthy again, I recommend that you put some dried and powdered liver of a goat in its feed as a medicine. That will right the donkey."

The farmer followed the doctor's advice and seized the goat and slaughtered it.

Conclusion: Envy and jealousy are bad advisors.
