This is Worst Possible Thing.-This, in this chapter: Lesson Zero was the most interesting thing.-
I have very bad luck choosing my favorites characters in a show. I always get the filler character or the most hated and that makes me search like a crazy for hours two or three decents images (and mines doesn't count like that).
Rarity's case isn't a exception. A character hated by a amount of people because her vain behavior (and another group because they suck very big dicks).
Me? I like her. It's perfect like others ponies in the serie. It's even more interesting over Pinkie Pie or Twilight (or Fluttershy, please!) because her manners and advanced speaking.
Rarity is the fusion of rare and vanity (i don't know what Lauren faust said about her so, it's a humble opinion) and fits on what the serie tries to show.
I'm not like her, i don't love her to death, but i still liking her.

Rarity is my second favorite pony. That might not sound significant to you, but allow me to elaborate.
At first, she was at the bottom of my list because I've seen many characters like her before, and to be frank, I didn't care for them.
Then S1E19 came along, and she jumped all the way from the bottom (concerning the Mane 6 only) to number 2.
There is no show that has done that to me before, you wonder why I love this show?

I know if I were a Pony I'd visit her with... what Ponyville Ponies use for money (I'm a newbie Bronie so I'm not sure if that was covered) and respect her and her skill.
(Although my fave is Rainbow Dash and I know if I was a new Pony to Ponyville Pinkie Pie'll probably be the first one I'd meet)

Dash is highly overrated. The Mysterious Mare do Well was a good episode for me, because Dashie got some pwnage.. in a way..

To be honest I actually felt sympathy for Dashie in that ep, that was kinda mean of the others if you think about it but in a way I understand why they did that.
btw Rainbow Dash actually reminds me quite a bit like Tomo Takino of Azumanga Daioh (who's my fave of that series)
