Description
So this is the most intense and epic piece I have created yet. This Mimic Lamp is made entirely out of stained glass and a few boro rods, and lit with led lights. The Beast totals 452 pieces of glass, at 12.25" wide, 14" tall, and 8.25" deep (10.75" inches if you include the tongue that extends out). he took over 200 hours of work, probably half of which was done live on Twitch. I tried to put in as much dynamism as I could possibly could at my current skill level, to give the allusion that he is alive and moving. I was inspired to make him while watching and learning how to play D&D and liked the idea as a personal challenge. It was definitely a challenge, so much so that I ended up putting him away for 6 months out of frustration, most of which came from having no clue how to do the tongue. I am immensely happy with how he turned out, and just can't seem to stop staring at him.Related content

WOW! This deserves a daily deviation, If I had any idea how to make that happen I would! Having just attempted to photograph a glass panel I know how hard it can be to capture a true appearance... but this is lit from within, correct? As an 'old school' D&D player (1st edition), I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate your subject matter. I'm very impressed with this and could easily see these turning into something really big.

It's stupidly difficult to photograph glass, especially a light source. I've just started with 5E, but have been watching it on Twitch a lot since I found it.

I've found frustration trying to photograph and scan just about everything I make. Some of my paintings are really dark and lose a lot of subtleties in reproduction, sculptures have depth of field issues, etc. I've resigned myself to the idea of ever really capturing the experience. In a way I like they it can't be fully captured because things are getting so digital and virtual these days, it's good that some things still are best in person.

Truth. Anytime someone sees a piece in person that are always surprised, even though they have seen all the pics online

Impressive! And a pleasant look down memory lane. The Beast is a mimic, I think? Something like that.
