Description
Damn it! You were nervous! It’s not like you never been in touch with a celebrity! You organized tons of events for them or where you had to invite them. Your own brother was famous! So drinking something with one was the last thing you should be nervous with. But you were. You looked at your reflection in mirror who hung on the wall in your room.
You had chosen to wear a red blouse with a cute black skirt, thin black thighs and black glossy pumps.
You fumbled at the button of your blouse, not knowing if you should keep it close or open. You wanted to look good but not making him think you wanted to seduce him.
Who were you kidding?!
Okay... Button close, it's not your breasts he had to talk to. You choose closing it. It's not like you were dressed like a brave little school girl but neither like a cheap whore.
Your phone buzzed. The screen showed Ben with his picture of you and him from last Christmas. You were wearing a hat and made silly faces.
"Yes dear brother of mine?" You answered sweetly.
"Are you going on a date with Tom?" His voice sounded frustrated. You imagined him ruffling a hand through his messy hair.
"How do you know that?" You asked. He was going to say something but you cut him of. "You know what Ben. I don't care! I'm (age), so old enough to choose who I'm dating. Besides it's only coffee!!"
"You don't even like coffee!!" He said dumbfounded.
"O please Ben grow up! I'll drink tea if it makes you feel better! I'm going to hang up now." And you ended the call.
You stuffed your phone in your purse and put your creamy trench coat on. Once outside you decided to walk to the café. It was only a few blocks away, so you’d go by foot. The cool fall air hit you, but it didn’t bother you that much.
You arrived at the meeting place and hoped he wouldn’t be late. You were ten minutes earlier, so it’s not like you could blame Tom for being late.
Pushing the door open you entered. A server immediately came over you.
“Good afternoon Miss Cumberbatch! How are you doing?”
“Hello Samuel! I’m fine thank you. Uhm.. I had to meet someone here. I don’t know if he’s already here.” You looked around. “He’s tall, curly black hair, high cheekbones.” You described.
Samuel looked around and pointed discreetly at the far end of the room. “I think it’s him.”
You glanced, and indeed it was Tom! Tom stood there, looking outside with an adorable dreamy smile. He was dress casually. Black pants, white shirt top button open, no tie. A grey scarf and a black trench coat were draped over his chair.
You inhaled and exhaled slowly. Okay, I can do it! “Thank you Samuel.” You made a step in Tom’s direction but turned around facing the waiter again. “How do I look?” You asked nervously.
He chuckled. “You look great Miss. Don’t worry.”
“Okay! Thanks!”
“For the record: He’s as nervous as you.” You chuckled and tried not to blush.
You walked his way, and as soon as Tom noticed you he got up from his seat. “Hi!” He said.
“Hi.” You said back
There was an awkward moment where you didn’t know if you had to shake hands or kiss his cheek or something so you just kept it with a smile. Tom shoved your chair so you could sit and took his place back in front of you.
"How are you doing?" He asked.
"Great thank you!"
“Can I take your order? Sir?” He asked Tom. He ordered earl grey tea with a, and you quote: a big slice of cheesecake. “Miss Cumberbatch? (Fav drink) and pastries of the day like usual?" The server asked.
Smiling you nodded. “You know me well Samuel!”
"You know him?" Tom asked when he left collecting your orders.
You smiled. "Let's say I come here enough to know the people who work here by name."
He laughed. A cute 'ehehehe'. "I'm happy I picked a place you like."
"I don’t like, I love it here! You come here often?" You asked waiting for your drink.
"It's the first time actually. I had a friend recommend me this place so I thought, why not?" He explained.
Samuel came with you order. "Your (fav drink) Miss Cumberbatch." He placed it carefully in front of you."Here you go. Sir." He gave him his tea. And Tom thanked him.
"Thank you Samuel." You said when he put the pastries in the middle of the table.
He left and you took a sip of your drink.
And so you both started talking about all the favorite places you liked. From parks to book shops to markets.
He started talking about the movie he was currently filming. “So you are not staying in London?”
“Sadly no.” He indeed looked a little sad. “But I’ll be back for the Standard Theater Awards, it’s only a weekend but yeah.” He shrugged.
“Don’t you miss it here?”
“A lot, but America is great. It’s crazy and so amazing! You really should see it. London stays my home, though.”
A smile crept on your face, he was so passionate.
Tom was so gentle to walk back home with you. Some street artists were playing music and you had stopped to watch them play.
"Did you tell Ben we were going for some coffee?" You asked him while your eyes were fixed on the young musicians, three boys and two girls. Tom got closer to you without him really noticing. You could smell his cologne and feel your arms brushing against each other.
"No, why?"
"Just before I left he called me asking about it."
He shook his head. "No... I-" his eyes grew wide. "Yes, well no… You know that friend who recommend me the café? Well it was Sophie….I told Sophie. Because I wanted to know what you'd like..." He blushed.
He had called your friend to find out where you liked to drink something?! That was so sweet!
You hold on his arm and squeezed it gently "Don't worry!" You assured him. "I just wondered."
His eyes met yours, at first you thought he would say something about you holding his arm, but he just smiled. So you got a little more comfortable against him and looked back at the little band playing.
"They are really good. It's sad how there is so much undiscovered talent in this world." Tom said.
You agreed. An idea popped up in your head. You waited for them to finish their song. A few people tossed some money in the open guitar case in front of them.
You dig your wallet out and take a ten out.
"Hi. You were great!"
"Thank you!" The young woman who had sing said with a big smile.
"I'm (y/n). I organize events and I was thinking of doing something for talented street artists like you guys. So I'd like to give you my card." You handed the girl your business card. "Think about it and call me if you'd be interested."
You waved goodbye and walked away with Tom.
"You really are going to do it?" He asked curiously.
"Yeah! I just had the idea. And I really want to do it! Those kids could get support or something. Thank you Tom."
"What for?"
"You gave me the idea."
It had been a week since you had had your coffee date, where you both had drank tea, with Tom. He had texted you to have from your news. He had even had called saying he'd love to see you again soon once he'd be back in London.
Ben had pulled his Sherlock side out and had played the detective asking you thousands of questions.
"It was just a drink!" You had told him when you were at his place discussing about marriage planning.
"Why? Why wanted he to?"
"Benedict it was to know each other better. I'm organizing your marriage and he is the best man. I had to know things. I had lunch with Sophie's maid of honor and you don't make a fuzz about it." It was true. For the lunch with the maid of honor part.

I know none of us really know the "real" people in your story, but I think everyone has an idea of how they think they would like them to be. You're painting BC and TWH just how I imagine them! Love it

Like you say we don't really know how they are in real life, we picture them a almost 'perfect', even if they probably aren't, but I picture them like this and I enjoy it whehehe. I'm happy you like it!
