After Simba returns and exiles Scar's pride, mate, and children to the Outlands, Kula begins to wonder... Did they exchange a neglectful king for an unjust one? She too had been one of Scar's daughters after all, born with the luck her half-sisters didn't have to favor her mother rather than father in looks. That alone was what had saved her from sharing their fate in the desolation of the Outlands.

Kula took to the habit of checking the borders a bit more often than the patrols and hunting parties called for, constantly searching for a sign that her sisters were still alive and well.
