This is so them! Even though it'd be Knuckles fault and Shadow's doing everything to help, Knuckles will still insist on not saying 'thank you' and being tsundere as hell.
Also It would only be for Knuckles that Shadow sacrifices his scarf for the Knux-meister since it was the bae's gift to the hedgehog in the first place for joining his team!
